Fourth Sunday of Easter - Good Shepherd Sunday
Saint Teresa of Calcutta and her work with the Missionaries of Charity is a wonderful example of being a good shepherd. She founded this order to serve people who are struggling with their lives and suffer from various diseases.
During her lifetime, Saint Teresa ministered to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying, and she did not discriminate against anyone because of their religious backgrounds. There were certainly moments when she struggled. She too turned to her own shepherd for guidance and help.
We are all called to serve, just like Saint Teresa of Calcutta, just like Jesus. It is normal for others to turn to you for help and for you to feel overwhelmed, but never forget that you always have a good shepherd that you can turn to when you feel lost.

BIKE SAFETY
As the warmer weather approaches, we would like to remind parents and students about the importance of bike safety. With more students likely to be riding their bikes to school, we want to ensure that everyone arrives safely and without incident.
We would like to encourage parents to remind their children to dismount their bikes and walk them across crosswalks, especially those surrounding the school. This not only ensures the safety of the students themselves, but also promotes safe behavior and attentiveness from drivers in the area.

AMA Youth Run Club
Our school has an exciting new program! We will be starting the Alberta Medical Association Youth Run Club on Friday, May 12. Youth Run Club will meet on Tuesdays and Fridays during lunch recess.
Students in all grades 3 & 4 are invited to join, regardless of fitness level or experience with running. Students will be encouraged to work at their own level. Walking breaks can be taken when necessary and students will gradually build their stamina with each run they do.
This program is being offered at no cost. To help your child be successful, please ensure they arrive prepared on running days. Outdoor runs will occur whenever possible so please make sure they come to school with clothing appropriate for weather conditions and a change of clothes on wet days. Running shoes are the best choice of footwear while running, however, we will not turn anyone away due to footwear.
If your child is nervous about joining the Youth Run Club, please reassure them that everyone is welcome and encourage them to give it a try. Participants don’t have to be runners to join. Everyone will be able to run at their own speed and therefore achieve success. If you wish your child not to take part in this recess activity, please let your child’s teacher know. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about Youth Run Club!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Bennett and Mrs. Greene

Inclusive Learning Connections
Consultant
- Learn how your child approaches new things. Does your child love new experiences and participate right away? Or does he/she need to watch and listen first and is more careful with new experiences?
- Recognize your child’s learning style. Is your child more hands on or do they learn best by looking and listening?
- How does your child react to change? Be prepared and help them prepare for changes. Is your child flexible or do they become upset with change?
- A child’s activity level can affect their preferences. Does your child prefer quiet activities or more active settings?
- Celebrate your child when they advocate and share their needs and what works best for them. We are all different and learn differently, no two brains are the same!
OT
- Has your little one established a dominant hand?
- Do lots of 2 handed activities: have them help in the kitchen to open open containers (Ziploc bags, containers or jars), help with washing dishes or mixing. In the bathroom have them open the toothpaste tube and play scoop and pouring games in the tub. Play puzzles and games or colour on tummies on the floor.
SLP
Play ‘Simon Says’ to practice following directions with more than one step
