HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 2 Week 5 - 1 June
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
There is a gorgeous video in this newsletter you may like to watch.
Confirmation began what has been a quiet, class teaching focused week. Mass itself was a beautiful, gentle affair. It was wonderful to be there.
Next week on Thursday I hope you will be able to join us for the Musica Viva concerts led by Adam Hall and the Velvet Players. This band plays everywhere! Over a period of several weeks our Music specialist Michelle Kirwan has been teaching our children to learn a number of songs which the band will play. It should be a great experience. The concerts will be in the gym. This, as with the focus on classical music last year, aims to provide children with opportunities to engage with music in ways that they may not always have thought of doing. Yahoo!!
Have a great long weekend, see you on Tuesday.
Mark de Kluyver
Principal

PARKING
Does every school have this issue? Highly likely! It is just a bit different at each establishment. Our three pressure points are:
- Ensuring only cars displaying the appropriate permits are to use our blue parking bays. We have a number of them because we have a number of students who need them.
- Not parking on the verge, as it restricts the drivers’ view when leaving the blue bays. Rather, parking a bit further away and parking legally is a huge help. I know that in lousy weather this can be a pain, but the safety of our children, is number one.
- Keeping the neighbours happy by parking respectfully around their homes.
Thanks for your help!!
Running Club
The Holy Rosary Cross Country is coming up fast on June 11 at Jackadder Lake. For this reason we have decided to run some early training sessions for all interested students on Wednesday June 6 and Friday June 8.
The club is open to all interested students in Year 3 – 6 and the sessions will be on the school oval starting at 7:30 am and concluding at 8:10 am.
See you down there!

IMPETIGO (SCHOOL SORES)
Impetigo is a common bacterial infection of the skin. It is spread by skin to skin contact. Children should be excluded for 24 hours after antibiotic treatment has commenced. Lesions on exposed skin surfaces should be covered with a waterproof dressing. Young children should be excluded until the sores are dry.

FAQ IS BACK!
Following the survey undertaken by our Holy Rosary Community (HRC) last year, which asked what parents and guardians might see as priorities for them for 2018, there was discussion at HRC meetings that some were more in the domain of the school, and that it would be best for the school rather than the HRC to respond. Most have been addressed, and just the updates now will be found here, and left in for a fortnight.
More sport – clubs before/after school. Many already exist, and are evident through the newsletter. Several are run by parents from Holy Rosary. Also, Rob Flexman, our teacher of Physical Education runs training sessions before interschool events, including arranging swimming training during the holidays. As children get a bit older the opportunities broaden. Rob also takes advantage of funding opportunities to run tennis sessions in sport time. The programme here is rich and varied. This week alone we have see soccer, lacrosse and netball expert coaches working with Rob and our children. It has been a great week! And.... Running Club is on soon!
HOLY ROSARY COMMUNITY NEWS
I AM BRIDGET. I AM 5.
It takes a village to raise a child. Bridget is now in Pre-Primary and loves, loves, loves coming to school every single day. Her parents Liesbet and Travis Schwertfeger would like to share their thanks to the Holy Rosary Village for putting a little extra light into their little girl, with special mention to all the Siena team and to Sharni Green (Kindy) and Jen Peel (PP). Bridget has made some beautiful little friendships because she is surrounded by some very kind, observant and thoughtful little girls and boys. It’s a pretty special community.

YOUTH MASS
Sunday 27 May was a fantastic night for the youth in our parish as they gathered to celebrate mass at 5:30pm on the Feast of the Holy Trinity. We were fortunate enough to have Joey Alexander lead us in the music and many different families across the parish support the evening. A big thank you to Fr. Peter and we look forward to seeing you at the next mass on 24 June. If you or a young person in your family are interested in having an active role in the masses which take place on the last Sunday of each month, please email Simon Martino at martino_simon@hotmail.com
