THE FIRST 9 WEEKS OF SCHOOL IS IN THE BOOKS!!

I know it must be hard to believe but today is the end of the first nine weeks. Towards the end of next week I will send an email via One Call letting all parents know to check the Home Access Center (HAC) to see your child's first nine weeks grades. The email will include directions on how to access the Report Card Tab and few other reminders about grades. The first nine weeks has gone so fast and we are so pleased that we are all still together at school where we know students belong!! Thank you to all families for a wonderful first nine weeks!!! THREE MORE TO GO!!! GO BEARS!!

ADVISORY TODAY

Our Freshmen were able to have a fun Advisory today with their Mentors. The Mentors planned games and had fun prizes in Advisory to celebrate the end of the first nine weeks. Our Sophomores were using Naviance to help them explore different career paths from prominent leaders in various industries. While Juniors were using Naviance to uncover their different intelligences and how to best leverage them as they build a plan for their future. Our Seniors were able to focus on the three E’s (Enrollment, Enlistment or Employment) with time to work on their college essays, resumes, college applications, ASVAB, job search or prep for their last ACT or SAT.

FAMILY SUPPORT FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

This is the time of year when our thoughts turn to the upcoming holiday season. For many of us, it is a time of planning, shopping and tending to all the details to make it a celebration for our families. For others, it is a time of stress and worry as they wonder how they will afford the simple joys of a holiday feast or gifts for their children.

There are many out there who want to help. We want to help.

Please fill out this form to request assistance for the upcoming holiday season. Your response is confidential and you will be contacted by your family support specialist to get the help you need.

There are also two community agencies who require early registration to get help- See the attached flyers for information on Thanksgiving baskets and A Community Christmas

If you would like to help a family in need, please call Kathy Yaros, District Family Support Specialist at 330-837-3501 x 1769 or email kay2jc@jackson.sparcc.org

VETERAN'S DAY CELEBRATION IS IN THE WORKS FOR THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 11!

The ceremony will take place in the Jackson High School Commons, starting at 7:45am. At this ceremony we will be honoring Veterans and their families.

During the ceremony we will be recognizing the sacrifices made by our students with parents in the Armed Forces. We refer to these students, with respect, as our “Purple Star Kids”. Dr. Monica Myers, Director of Curriculum at Jackson Local Schools will be our guest speaker for this portion of the ceremony. She herself is a “Purple Star Kid” as her Father proudly served in the 101st Airborne, United States Army. Her son, who is in the Ohio National Guard, just recently returned from deployment in Kuwait. She is a person who understands the sacrifices made by the family of those who serve our great country. Following the ceremony, our Purple Star Students and their families are invited to the Bears Den Cafe for fellowship and nourishment. This will take place during our 2nd period which is from 8:36-9:23am.

We also invite any current or former members of the Armed Forces or their family members to join us in the Jackson Center for Performing Arts to be a part of or witness the Veterans Panel. The Veterans Panel will consist of Veterans having open dialogue with Social Studies students on what it means to serve and/or support a family member that serves. See the backside of this letter for the complete Veterans Day agenda. We very much hope you can join us for all or part of this special day!

If you and/or your family would like to participate please reach out to Mr. Knopick at jjk2jc@jackson.sparcc.org or at 330-837-3501 ext. 1424.
