Weekly News from Kimball Hill
Week of March 14th, 2022
Message from the Principal
As a reminder, this is our last week before Spring Vacation. Our school will be closed on March 21st through March 25th. We remain so proud of our student's hard work this year! We hope all of our students and families are able to enjoy a well deserved break, some nice weather and quality time with each other! We look forward to welcoming back students on Monday, March 28th.
The Beyond Boundary Moving 15 Forward meeting date has been finalized. Our new date is Monday, May 9th. The meeting will be held at Carl Sandburg Junior High in the cafeteria and led by Dr. Heinz and her team. At this meeting, you will learn more about the proposed plan and how it will specifically impact Kimball Hill. Some of the other feeder schools' communities will be invited to this meeting. More information to come!
Lastly, our students are working towards meeting our monthly behavior goal to remain under 10 majors as a school team. Our school-wide celebration is tentatively scheduled for Friday March 18th in the afternoon. If we meet our goal, all students and staff will have a dance celebration ('Dance in Class/Halls'); which was our most popular requested celebration from our students.
Have a great week! Thank you for your continued partnership and support! We could not do all of this without each of you!
As always, please feel free to call or email me with any questions, concerns or feedback any time.
Warmly,
Michelle LaCamera

Dental Services for Students
Community Consolidated School District 15 will be hosting Orland Park Dental Services (OPDS) coming up in March through May. OPDS has provided in-school dental services for all eligible children in the State of Illinois since 1999. Dental services will be accessible to children eligible for public aid as well as for those with private insurance.
Anyone signed up will receive a free dental exam and a toothbrush. For those that qualify or provide private insurance information, the additional services may include a cleaning, fluoride treatment, and sealants. All services done will be given to the child in a take home form describing the services determined, areas of concern, overall oral care score, and any additional care needed. If any additional help is needed for the child a comprehensive list of available local dentists will be given with no limits of insurance. All these in-school services will be provided by licensed dentists, hygienists, and assistants with state-of-the-art portable equipment and ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment at your child’s school.

Registration for 2022-23
Online student registration for the 2022-23 school year is now open. If you have not already started this process for your student(s), please visit our registration page to start this process.
Registration is the first step in getting ready for the up-coming school year. After you register your child online you need to:
Pay student fees. Our student fee webpage outlines the District’s student fee structure and the three ways fees can be paid.
If you have a student that is starting Kindergarten, entering fourth grade, or entering 7th grade, you are required to prove residency in District 15. Our residency webpage outlines the documents you will need to provide to prove residency.
All three steps of the enrollment process must be completed prior to the start of the school year. Students of families that, when required, do not prove residency, will not be able to attend class in a District 15 until the family’s residency is verified.

Outdoor Recess
Students will be outside to the greatest extent possible. Exceptions for students to stay inside from recess can only be made when a child brings a doctor's note excusing him/her from outdoor recess.
Staff members provide playground supervision. If students need assistance, there are supervisors in bright orange vests to assist. Please help remind your child if they need something, find an adult in the orange vest and if they See Something, Say Something.
If students are not following behavior expectations, a staff member will address the behavior with the student(s). Based on the behavior, the child may speak to an administrator.
Recess Temperature Guidelines per District 15
- Cold Weather:
If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is below 0°F, all students will remain inside for the entire lunch hour.
If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is between 0°-10°F, the preferred procedure is a rotation of 20 minutes for lunch, a 20-minute outdoor recess, and a 20-minute indoor recess. However, at the principal's discretion, students may be kept inside for the entire lunch hour.
If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is above 10°F, students will have regular outdoor recess.
Warm weather: Students will be outside for recess/PE if the temperature (or heat index) is below 100 degrees. Students will be inside for recess/PE if the temperature (or heat index) is 100 degrees or above.
Other considerations in which indoor recess is allowed include the condition of the playground and the presence of precipitation.
