This Week in Art
We are in the "home stretch" and continuing to make beautiful artwork at Thacher School! Our student artists have made great progress this year and I am very proud of them!🎨
Kindergarten created Under the Sea art with the letter U. They also did the letter N and made adorable Paper Plate Nests for their baby birds. Making Alphabet Art strengthens and reinforces learning in ELA, while students practice & improve art skills.🖍🎨
1st graders have been busy learning about the color wheel. They made Rainbow Caterpillars and Color Wheel Mice after reading the story "Mouse Paint."🌈
2nd grade has been working on being author & illustrator of a beautiful Butterfly Life Cycle Book. We then made the story characters come to life by creating Symmetrical Butterflies and Clay Caterpillars.🦋
3rd grade students made many mini clay spheres and then assembled them with toothpicks to create 3D artwork. These "Steam Sculptures" demonstrate student learning in Science, Engineering, Art, and Math! We are also working on Planet Panoramic Pictures while connecting and extending knowledge in Science through the Visual Arts.🌎
4th grade continues to learn more about other cultures and their artistic traditions. They discovered how to use a bamboo brush and India ink to create amazing Chinese Calligraphy Scrolls. We are now working on Tropical Tree Sunset Silhouette Paintings. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to display some of these colorful paintings in the community!🌅
It has been an extraordinary year in Art and has been my pleasure to work with all of your talented and creative children!💓
