Message from Principal Dr. Gideon and Assistant Principal Mr. Cowart
Dear Eisenhower Students and Families,
It was beautiful being able to welcome over 850 students for the first week of school. This week students engaged in opportunities to build relationships and engage with their teachers and other students. Monday students will begin fall sports and other activities. Students are encouraged to get involved in activities either with our campus or in your communities. It is an important skill one must learn to collaborate and work in teams. Collaboration is a skill that will be necessary through middle, high school, and beyond.
Students I hope you have a wonderful weekend and are able to enjoy time with your family. We cannot wait to see you on Monday!
Dr. Gideon
Principal
Mr. Cowart
Assistant Principal

Dressing Out for PE
We have had questions regarding dressing out for PE. Currently, for September, we will not be able to have students dress out. Unfortunately, the locker space is being used, and we have exercised all options to open the space. Because we are limited in what we can do, we will have to hold out on dressing out until further notice. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Dr. Gideon at wgideon@everettsd.org.

Best way to keep track of student progress in school
Parents schedule check-in opportunity with your students. This will be a time to review and check in on your student's grades on Gradebook.
Friday's are great times to do a gradebook review with your child. Keep in mind that grades are not updated weekly. Scheduling Friday reviews will help keep a process and routine to review and track your student's progress. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for students to learn to build skills in time management, advocacy, and organization.

COVID SAFETY
As staff and students return to buildings this fall, we will continue to follow requirements set by the Washington State Department of Health.
Masks - We understand there are many different philosophies on requiring students and staff to wear masks while in school. Our utmost concern is for the health and safety of our students and staff. With the increasing number of COVID cases and the highly transmissible Delta variant of COVID, our state superintendent of schools and governor have mandated masks be worn in school when we start in September 2021.
This is a requirement for all students and staff who are working where children are present regardless of vaccination status. This is a requirement by law and is not at the discretion of local school boards, local superintendents or principals, therefore, Everett Public School students and staff (while children are present) will be wearing masks. Similar to last year, there will be accommodations made if a student has a disability that prevents them from masking.
Social Distancing - While students are at school, there will be social distancing protocol in place. The requirement for schools is to "maintain physical distance of three feet or more between students in a classroom setting to the degree possible and reasonable, that allows for full-time, in-person learning for all students" (Department of Health requirements for K-12 schools). Our classrooms will be set up to provide three (3) feet of social distancing at a minimum.
Extra safety measures - Per requirements for all school districts, school ventilation systems are inspected, cleaned and repaired as needed. Restrooms have increased exhaust ventilation as well. There are hand sanitizing options available throughout schools, and protocols in place in case a child gets sick at school. More details will be available before school starts.
Please review the following Covid Family Safety Handbook 21-22.
