ECLC Class News

Week of 4/4-4/8

What we did this week ...

Our centers and books were based upon caterpillars this week. The books I read this week were The Hungry Little Caterpillar, The Crunching Munching Caterpillar, and Monarch Butterflies.

The students worked together to put together an alphabet caterpillar. They also made a sight word caterpillar. The kids used pattern shape blocks to fill in a butterfly and caterpillar template. They put together number puzzles from 1-20, then completed a butterfly dot to dot.

In Social Skills Group, the students learned about trying something first, even if it is difficult. If they are unable to succeed at a task, after trying, then they should ask for help.

Other things we did this week ....

In math, the students used a geoboard, and used rubber bands (geo bands) to make shapes. The students utilized a graph, to name their favorite animals. They were able to identify which animal was least or most popular.

In phonics, the students tapped out sounds to make words. I dictated words and sounds to the students. They practiced writing the letters U and V in their handwriting books.

We reviewed all our learned sight words this week.

Thank you to Sofia's mom for coming in to read this week.

Thank you to the families who sent in supplies.

Have a wonderful weekend!
