Christy Gutt Named WCHE Volunteer of the Month, March 2018!
West Cypress is very fortunate to have wonderful volunteers who come in to help us in the Library, to help us with student lunches, and to assist our classroom teachers. They decorate our hallways and our classrooms, and they make our special events like Family Fun Night, Field Day, and the Apex Fun Run possible.
To show our appreciation, the WCHE staff elects one volunteer each month to be our Volunteer of the Month. The recipient of that honor for the month of March is Christy Gutt.
Christy serves as Secretary of the WCHE PTO, is a WCHE Library Volunteer, and helps our classroom teachers. Congratulations, Christy, and many thanks for all that you do to make WCHE a GREAT place to be.
"OPEN" YOUR HEART by joining the WCHE Kardivas in a one-day drive to collect manual/handheld can openers March 6
Our WCHE Kardivas have partnered with the Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) to assist in continuing to meet the needs of those still displaced by Hurricane Harvey along the Texas Gulf Coast. The Kardivas are collecting manual/handheld can openers that the ADRN will distribute to hurricane victims along with greatly needed canned goods.
The Kardivas appreciate your manual/handheld can opener donations. Please send your can opener donations to school with your child(ren) or drop off can openers in the Front Office on Tuesday, March 6. For more information click here.
Thanks for your help!

Talking to Children About Violence: Tips for Parents and Teachers
Mrs. JoAnn Bryan, the WCHE School Counselor, shares with us this resource that she provided to all of the West Cypress teachers and staff regarding serious acts of violence in schools. The tragedy in Florida has reached the ears, eyes, and hearts of some of our students, and we need to collectively equip ourselves to respond in supportive ways.
We share information with our students on how we maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for everyone here at WCH. We also want to provide them with opportunities to share and express their feelings appropriately when tragedy or violence occurs. We encourage parents to read through this resource and reach out with questions or concerns. Your child's social, emotional and physical safety is our priority!
Spring Forward to Daylight Saving Time @ 2 am Sunday, March 11
Calling all Box Tops! Calling all Box Tops!
Please remember to save your Box Tops for Education and donate them to West Cypress Hills. The classroom with the most Box Tops each quarter wins a special prize.
And, be sure to remind Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts, and Uncles to save theirs, too!
Box Tops for Education labels can be found on a number of grocery items. For more information about the products that support Box Tops for Education, click here. Box Tops can be placed on this form and turned in to your child's teacher. Thanks!
