Layton High Cheer UPDATE
UPCOMING EVENTS
January 9th- Parent Meeting 9:15am & Cheer Competition 12:45pm
9:00 am- team can come to LHS and start getting ready in the dance room. Hair and make-up must be the same. (The team will be notified this week of what that will look like.)
9:15 am- Parents Meeting will start. This is mainly to inform of and to clarify upcoming events, fundraising and team situations. You are not required to attend this meeting but it should be short and will fill in the blanks I haven't been able to get filled in as of yet.
We will meet at Roy High at 11:00 am to check in at 11:15 am. This means there is not a bus being provided for this event. We have parents in place to drive- and that can be determined at the parent meeting.
Map to Roy High
Please feel free to text or call with any questions- I know I haven't been as diligent with information as I WILL be! ;)
FYI: Money Earned at Fundraisers from this point until Nationals will go towards your Students' trip or additional team items (like T-shirts, etc). We will keep track so that everyone gets an equal opportunity (if desired) to work.
January 19th- Boys Basketball Concessions (Davis Game)
We have the opportunity to earn money at the Boys Basketball game (generally the most attended one).
I am still getting specifics from the lady that runs it (Karen Jones) and will have a finalized sign-up sheet as soon as I do...but for now, you can let me know if you are interested.
January 23rd- COTILLION
Our team has the opportunity to host (and earn the money from) Cotillion this year.
I am looking for help to set up the night before (Friday, the 22nd)- It should only take a couple of hours.
I am in need of white Christmas light strands...and any ideas you may have in making the dance extra special. It will be a Gatsby Themed formal dance.
Sign-up would be HERE.
January 28th - DRILL REGION- Concessions
Lancelles have offered us the opportunity to earn money doing their concessions at the Region Drill Competition. The basic run-down is that there are 7 schools competing. Doors open at 4pm for parents and then 5pm for the general public. Michelle and Jessica (the Drill Coaches) have informed me that the auditorium fills up completely with many parents coming straight from work.
We have lined up a few food trucks to come and offer food, from which we would receive 10%. I am hoping to also think of a fun, novelty treat to serve along with other concession type foods inside the school. If you have good ideas (veggie cups, baked goods, candied apples, etc) and experience, please let me know!
Again, I am waiting on specifics on the number of volunteers needed and the exact food we will need assistance with but the links are here:
February 4th & 5th Mini-Cheer
Mini-Cheer will have its clinics on the 4th starting at 4 pm. They will review before the game in the small gym Feb. 5th at 6 pm and perform during the game's half-time.
This is a fantastic fundraiser and one that I have had questions asked about since last year. We will go over specifics about money at the parent meeting. We will be keeping track of each participant and the Cheerleader that recruited them.
Mini-Cheer Registration Form is printable- just be sure to include BOTH sides/papers and your Cheerleaders' name.
February 5th - Concessions for Boys Basketball Game and Mini-Cheer performance
We have the opportunity to earn money at the Boys Basketball game during the mini-cheer performance. We have have people ready to cover for us during half-time- so everyone can watch their cheerleader!
I am still getting specifics from the lady that runs it (Karen Jones) and will have a finalized sign-up sheet as soon as I do...but for now, you can let me know if you are interested.
UPCOMING COMPETITION DATES
March 5th @ Syracuse High
NATIONAL ROUGH ITINERARY....coming SOON!
We will be flying out about 10ish pm on Thursday, March 17th. This was cheaper than flying out Friday or Saturday AND the team won't miss more than three days of school!
We will be staying at the new Hyatt Place (Convention Center) in Anaheim... hopefully no roaches this year!
We will fly home Tuesday, March 22nd about 7 pm.
Parents are welcome to come...and to take their children AFTER the competition on Sunday.
Once we have a bid we will need to get the trip paid for AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. We will have opportunities for your team-member to make the money to go if needed or wanted.
