Student Photography Selected for Showcase
Corynn McAfee, Widefield High School junior, will have her photography showcased at the
XQ + PopUp Magazine: Super School Live on March 7 and 8 at the Shockley-Zalabatt Theatre at the ENT Center for the Arts. The event will feature a night of high school drama — full of stories, selfie confessionals, viral gratitude, and multi-media adventures that celebrate the everyday heroes transforming America’s high schools. All proceeds from ticket sales benefit local non-profit organizations. Corynn is an aspiring photographer who wants to study journalism and photography in college after graduation in 2020.

Students Explore zSpace Mobile Classroom
Students at Mesa Ridge and Widefield high schools got the ultimate virtual reality experience this week. The zSpace Mobile Classroom traveled to both schools to provide hands‐on virtual reality based learning experiences in which students use 21st century skills collaboratively to solve real-world problems. Each computer station requires learners to wear 3-D glasses and use a Stylus pen to do a variety of interactive activities, including dissecting a human heart.

Widefield FIRST LEGO League Jr. Expo
FIRST LEGO League Jr. allows students, ages 5-10, to problem solve real-world problems using the engineering design process. Students this year have been working hard to understand what it would be like to travel and spend time on the moon. Through their research, students solved a problem involving the difficulties and differences of living on the moon. Students will display their learning through a LEGO designed model and a Show Me Poster. The LEGO designed model has moving parts programmed through a computer. Students have worked hard and will display their hard work at the LEGO Exhibition on February 23 at Janitell Junior High.
