Help with Car Dismissal
Families, we need your help with the car rider line at dismissal. I know that it is very hot outside, but please pull all the way up in the line before 3:10pm.
I understand that it is tempting to wait under the shade before the students are released, but this causes traffic congestion to back up on the street. By moving your vehicle forward as far as possible, you help maximize the available space, allowing more cars to fit in line and reducing congestion on the street. Thank you for your support and cooperation.
Thank You to Our Parent Involvement Club!
Wow! Our school looked AMAZING this week! It was so special to see the student's faces on Wednesday Morning when they entered the school. A huge thank you to all our parent volunteers for decorating the campus and making it so special for spirit week! The decorations were beautiful and made the week so special! Thank you!!!
Safety Drills
We have 10 drills that the State of Texas requires throughout the school year. Last Friday, our students practiced a lock down drill. They have also discussed the different types of emergency drills in class. Our students did a great job during the drill. During a lock down drill, the students move to a corner of the room, sit quietly, and wait for instructions from the teacher. We reiterate to students that these are just drills. The reason that we practice these drills is so that we know what to do if there is ever an emergency.
Before school starts, all staff have participated in required safety training. We utilize the standard response protocol. Here is a safety video with information on the Standard Response Protocol. Click here to view
A special thank you to the Lago Vista Police Department for attending Friday's drill. We will be having our severe weather drill in the upcoming weeks.
From Our Parent Volunteer Organization
Did you know that LVIS has formed a parent volunteer organization? Have you been wanting to get involved and connect with other LVIS parents? We would love to have your participation!
As many of you know, the Intermediate School does not have its own PTO. We are trying to change that! During this upcoming year, we will be actively working to get this organization set up for future Intermediate parents.
What does that mean for you? Principal Sullivan has requested more parent involvement this school year! Sarah Hyde and Jessica Adamo will be reaching out to you throughout the school year. We will need help decorating hallways, supporting/pampering our teachers, praising our superstars for their hard work by decorating lockers and parties, family movie nights, Watch Dogs, Apex volunteering, fundraising to create a better recess environment for our children and more!
Let’s make this year the best yet for our 4th & 5th graders!
Please click here if you are interested in participating in our parent organization.
