College & Career Pathways
Starting with the Class of 2024, Lincoln High Schools launches an integrated approach in preparing our students to be college and career ready with our three Career Themed Centers, the Center for Biotechnology and Engineering, the Center for Medical and Emergency Services and the Center for Performance and Communication Technology. Students are organized into cohorts for two of their four classes each semester. Each Career Technical Education class is paired with a core academic subject to engage in an integrated cross curricular project. Students will showcase their learning at the end of each semester. Please watch this newsletter for updates on each of the projects.
Students were also busy exploring career IN the workplace this summer with our several community partners. Special thanks to Genomatica, Vertex, and Neighborhood House for extending such great opportunities for our young people. Congratulations to Braeden Green, Cintia Roman, Alondra Garcia, Yamilett Delatorre, Dalia Diaz, Antayni Guiton, Michelle Solorio, Jonathan Alatorre for completing your internship with Genomatica. Congratulations to the High Steppers students from Lincoln HS, Riahanna Stewart, Kajanae Walker and Marquise Lewis who participated in internships at various sites around San Diego arranged by Neighborhood House Association. Students engaged with professionals in each of the different organizations learning foundational and transferable skills to start building their resume and reinforce how skills in the classroom are applied in the work setting. We are continuing to network to create opportunities for motivated and dedicated students to take their learning into a work setting. We have both paid and unpaid opportunities available. For more information, please contact our College & Career Pathways Coordinator Lori Williams at lwilliams7@sandi.net.
