No Place for Hate Kick Off
To celebrate our school’s participation in No Place For Hate over the last seven years, all students and staff will be invited to sign our Resolution of Respect banner during lunch. By signing this pledge, students are committing to treat each other with respect and to stand up for those who are targets of bullying, hate, prejudice, and discrimination.

I Choose My Label...
A big part of NPFH is the idea that we all should be able to determine and decide our own identities. Before we can understand others, we must understand ourselves. This is a developmental task our students are undergoing on a daily basis in middle school. We want students to know that they get to decide what positive labels they will accept and promote for themselves. Today, students will be receiving name tag labels to wear throughout the day with an adjective that describes a strength they have and are proud of. This could be whatever label they choose; intelligent, talented, musical, athlete, kind, considerate, innovative, or whatever label they choose for themselves.

...And I Embrace Yours!
Incidences of bullying will continue in schools, unless students recognize the power they have to put a stop to it. The best way to stop bullying is to encourage students to be more open and accepting of others that are different from them. Embracing others’ differences is an employability skill that is increasingly being sought by employers in today’s workforce. Adults in and outside of the building can implement and enforce anti-bullying programs, but it truly is when students decide they won’t tolerate their peers treating others badly that rates of bullying decrease. Students are encouraged to dress as twins or wear matching outfits today, symbolizing their commitment to stick by and stand up for one another in support of our differences!
