Principal's Corner
Dear Slate Hill Families,
I hope all of you are enjoying the fall weather and some fun activities with your family! It was an exciting week at the Slate with a cookout for lunch, our new playground equipment arriving and our 2nd family group (constellation day) where we learned about fixed and growth mindset. I have included a few pictures from the week!
Our parent teacher conferences are this week, and this is the perfect time to learn how your child is performing in the classroom academically, behaviorially and socially. I want to encourage all families to sign up for a conference with your child's teacher if you have not already. We value your partnership in your child's learning, and this is a great opportunity to learn ways to support your child at home with their education.
Mark your calendars for our Halloween Parade on Friday, October 28th at 2pm. Families may gather outside on the track and playground area to view all of our Slate Hill stars in their costumes during our Halloween parade. AM Kindergarten students are invited to return to school at 1:45pm to be part of the 2pm parade. We will start our parade by exciting the gym doors and parade around the building to the front of the building where we will reenter. The parade will go in grade level order beginning with 5th, 4th, 3rd ... and ending with our Kindergarten students. If it rains, parents will be invited to enter through the back of the building and gather in the gym and cafeteria areas to view the parade. Classroom teachers will have some fun class activities for students in their classroom afterwards. We will also have our 3rd annual staff costume contest where our students will get to vote on the winning team.
The Adventure Awaits at the Slate!

Counselor's Corner
Now that we are a couple months into the year, our students are growing more than ever! With this growth, it's never too early to start looking for the signs of puberty. The attached article outlines 6 tips for teaching your child about good hygiene routines including a discussion about their bodies changing, odor developing, and hair growing.
If you need any additional resources, please feel free to reach out to me or our nurse, Ms. Keathley (mkeathley@wscloud.org).
