NEWS & NOTES
Our vision should be known by all. In breaking this down, our learning environment will be:
- Positive- set the tone in our classrooms by building relationships and reinforcing positive behavior
- Engaging- instruction will be interactive and driven by student needs. This means intentional planning through posted I CAN statements aligned to daily lessons.
- Rigorous- Our instruction needs to be challenging and aligned to standards. Deconstructing standards into skills and teaching how to apply the skills is the end game. Critical thinkers are the desired outcome.
Shout outs for the week:
- Welcome aboard Ms. Bell! She is our new assistant in our Primary ED Room with Ms. Crotty (110).
- Mr. Crane would like to THANK the ED team (Ms. Crotty, Mr. Wells, Ms. Sells, Ms. Katie) for their support and helping him get up to speed!
- I would like to THANK all of you for a great testing week! I am proud of the work put into preparation and execution!
- Thank you Ms. Pena, Ms. Delbridge, and Ms. Gutierrez for helping to support our immigrant families at this time...great workshop Thursday evening!
We will be completing ISTEP Part I makeups this week. Testing locations will be throughout the building, so please make sure students are following SOAR procedures AT ALL TIMES.
Thank you for your attentiveness during our STAND UP staff meeting the week before. I am seeing improvements in what was discussed. Please make sure you are here @ 8:30 and ready to accept students or at your duty spot by 8:40 am daily.
Evaluations will resume this week and will focus on the following areas:
- K-2- Guided Reading (Teacher table and stations)
- 3-6- TD Times (ELA and Math)
Please make sure we are aligning our practices to the above vision of positive, engaging, and rigorous instruction. Continuous student growth is the mindset!!!
K-2, our guided reading time should be aligned to our DIBELS MOY results and the skills needed for our students grow from their current TRC and DIBELS scores. I should see leveled books in students hands at the teacher table and stations directly aligned to needs. Rigor is key....stations are not designed to be "busy" work.
Dr. Pratt, our AIO, and Brynn Kardash, our TZ director, will be visiting this coming Wednesday from 11:15-12:15. The focus will be on K-2 instruction...so we will be visiting your classrooms! Be prepared to show how we "SOAR" to primary instruction.
As we get closer to spring break and are concluding a testing window, our students will begin to show some stress related behaviors. Please remember to utilize our Morning Meeting time to help with this. I have attached an article below about Mindfulness, which would be great to use.
The Indianapolis Colt's mascot, "Blue", will be visiting on Friday, March 10th @ 10:00 am. Click here for details about the show. Jeans and Colts gear are encouraged that day....and students can pay $1 to wear their Colt's gear for the Pennies for Patients drive. The schedule for your to come down to the gym is:

3rd/4th Grade @ 9:48
