Do you ever have the feeling, that when everything goes wrong, and absolutely nothing is going to make anything better? This is exactly how Opal Buloni feels. She moved to some little town, that she wasn't used to, and wanted to be anywhere in the world, but there. Little did she know what was in store for her as the summer went by. Would she be bored the rest of the summer, or would she meet a new bestfriend that would change her life forever? This book is a book that you will make the choice of reading it over and over again.

Character Analysis

India Opal Buloni, only ten years old, moves to a small town in Naomi, Florida. Opal, is going through a tough time because she has just experienced a major tragedy, and the last thing she wants to do is move to a small town, where she has no friends. Although every kid wants to do their own thing, parents are the boss over us. So we basically just go with the flow; whatever they tell us to do we try to respect and obey them. So of course Opal moves, and she finds herself being the new motherly figure in the house. Opal gets the groceries, cooks, and cleans. But Opal will never imagine that she would find herself a new friend that changes here life mentally and physically.

Why should you read this book?

This book is full of emotions. Happy, sad, excited, angry, you will feel at least one of these while reading this book. When reading this book, I often found myself talking to the book; asking "why did they do that," "I cant wait to see what happens next," "Aw that is so sweet!" I recommend this book to everyone because your always on the edge of your seat.

Kate DiCamillo

Kate DiCamillo is a wonderful author, that is very talented. She has wrote The Tale of Despereaux and Because of Winn-Dixie, and many more wonderful books. Kate started her writing career at the age of twenty-nine. She was working in a children section in a writing warehouse, and she feel in love writing books for the children. Kate describes her day consisting of, "getting up, drinking her coffee, and then going to her computer to write. As you can see, writing is Kate life, and God sure did bless her with a wonderful talent.
