Our Beacon of Light
Due to the generosity of the Doug Molzahn family, the illuminated Lincoln High School Tower will continue to be a beacon of light, shining throughout our illustrious learning community. A small dedication ceremony was held on Saturday morning.
Doug was Principal at LHS from 1984-1993….He was also an Assistant AP at Washington Jr High from 1973-1984 before taking the Lincoln position, and most importantly an educator in the district before that from 1960-1973:)….
Doug taught Social Studies, coached various sports at Washington Junior High…. Taught Geography at Lincoln from 1970 until 1973, He considered it an honor to chair the process that led to Lincoln High School gaining national recognition as a High School of Excellence and to represent the district in accepting that special award from President George Bush in Washington D.C. Outside of school Doug helped educate the community about Heart Disease through his 25 year association with Heart-A-Rama. Additionally he served Manitowoc through the Lions club and as an active member with his wife, of First Lutheran Church.
As a nurse in Manitowoc, Helen Molzahn, educated and served her community in many ways including service on The Nursing Advisory Board of the Lakeshore Technical College. She also helped teach the community about Heart Disease through her 25 years with Heart-A-Rama. Additionally, Helen taught and shared her musical talent throughout the community.
Children include one son Greg (Ann) Molzahn, an educator in South Milwaukee; Catherine (Glenn) Smits, independent educator, and Susan (Scott) Parker, Educator in Chippewa Falls.
We are now accepting applications for students who want to be a Boomerang Team Teacher. What is Boomerang? It is a program where high school students present a monthly lesson on a character trait to a fourth-grade classroom. Click here for a "job" description. This incredibly rewarding club would require you to spend one WIN period with your group to prepare the lesson, and then go to an elementary school for about an hour one time per month. Click here to apply online. If you have any questions, please stop by the Counseling Center and talk to Mrs. Heuvelman.
