After enjoying a wonderful breakfast catered by Karen Wade and sponsored by First State Bank, the staff were treated to a performance by the Leopard faculty band and cheers from the Varsity cheerleaders. On his 5th day here at GISD, Dr. Stewart welcome all the staff and shared his energy and passion to kick off the new school year. Mr. Larry Smith was honored for his service as Interim Superintendent from April-August of this year, prior to Dr. Stewart's arrival. The keynote speaker was Dr. Michael Moody, Co-Founder of the Insight Education Group. As part of a 3 year grant, Insight is providing intense professional development for all of our teachers and staff. Meet the Leopards!

On Saturday evening, GHS fall athletes were individually recognized for their participation in football, volleyball, cross country, band, and cheer. Real Life Church served hot dogs, burgers, and water, and the new run through tunnel was displayed for the first time. The new tunnel was donated by the 2017-18 GABC. Thank you for your continued support!

United Way fundraising

Our students and staff came through on August 24, donating $1,200 for the Cooke County United Way fundraiser. We have one more day, August 31, to raise funds for the 2019 campaign. As a pacesetter, GISD has taken the responsibility, along with 11 other organizations, to set the pace for the 2019 campaign. Help show your support by donating $1 on Friday. All students and staff making a donation get to wear JEANS and a SPIRIT SHIRT! Too hot for jeans? Donate $1 and wear a spirit shirt with regular uniform bottoms.
