Coming soon! COVID-19 vaccination opportunities for educators
Governor Laura Kelly has shared that most school district employees will fall into Phase 2 of the state’s COVID-19 Vaccine Prioritization Plan. While many details are yet to be determined, we do know that having the vaccine available for Blue Valley staff gets us one step closer to having all students back to school in-person.
The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment (JCDHE) may receive Phase 2 vaccinations for educators as early as late January-early February. The exact date of arrival and quantity is unknown. Once vaccinations are received, JCDHE and the district will need to act immediately to begin voluntary vaccinations. The district is currently working with JCDHE officials to determine an efficient vaccination schedule.

Mental Fitness: Practical Applications of Distress Management
Blue Valley families and teens are invited to join Julia Harkleroad, licensed clinical marriage and family therapist, mindfulness coach and parent advocate, for one of several virtual workshops open to all Blue Valley parents and any teens the week of Jan. 19-22. Parents and teens should attend this event if they would like more information about panic, depression and/or suicidality. Julia will be discussing the basic protocols in case of suicidal ideation and planning as well as managing impulsive emotions, intrusive thoughts and high stress environments. She will introduce the biomechanics of stress and the differences between suicidal ideation and suicidal planning. Julia will share insight into breathing, heart-rate variability, pain management, relationships, drugs and alcohol, sleep, social media and mindfulness. Register online.
All sessions are open to all BV parents and teens. If a session time does not work and you wish to join live, feel free to register for a session that works for you, even if you are not part of that feeder system.
