Definition: Two types of location, absolute and relative. Absolute is a specific location and Relative is an approximate location


Absolute- 45.6889° N, 94.6117° W

Relative- North of Albany, across from Linn's Dairy

Place

Definition: An area that is defined by everything in it. Includes human and physical characteristics.


Human characteristics- St. Anthony Catholic Church, tar roads, park, houses, bar

Physical characteristics- fields, slight hills, tall trees

Movement

Definition: The way people, goods, ideas, and information move from one place to another.

Transportation- walk, car,plane, bus

Goods- clothing from Mayaysia, towels/ blankets from China

Communication- technology and mail

Places I've traveled- Washington D.C. , Florida, the Dakotas, Iwoa, Wisconsin

Human Environmental Interaction

Definition: How people adapt, modify, and depend on the environment, can be positive or negative. Adapt is to make something suitable for a new use or purpose. Modify is to make partial or minor changes. Depend is to rely on something for support and unifying characteristics

Adapt: When the temperature changes I change my clothes to suit the weather

Modify: cut the grass, pull weeds, planting trees

Depend: my home, sun, trees, water

Region

Definition: An area defined by certain similar and unifying characteristics, includes physical and human features. Physical is what is natural and human is man made.


Physical features: fields, lakes, ponds, rivers, streams

Human features: roads, shops, stores, homes
