Speak Up Survey
It's time for our yearly participation in the Speak Up technology survey.
Speak Up is a national research project facilitated by Project Tomorrow. It provides an easy way for students, parents, and educators to share their views on technology and learning with
Madison County Schools.
The data from this survey drives the direction of our local and district technology plans.
All responses are 100% confidential. No identifying information is collected about/from any participant
Link to take the survey:
If password is needed, it is speakup17.
Next PTO Meeting is @ 6pm Thursday, January 18, 2017.
Second Graders will perform.

STEM MAKER SPACE HELP NEEDED
Please consider helping us out with Maker Space Fridays! Here is our upcoming scheduled classes below. The students LOVE working with robots and our UAH marble roller coaster! Parents enjoy it, too! Parents help out with monitoring the stations as the students rotate around all 7 stations. Each parent chooses a station to monitor.
If you could help with BOTH classes, that'd be Awesome! It's only 2 1/2 hours with a 30 minute break between the 2 classes. If you can only dedicate 1 Friday, that's perfectly fine! We understand and are thankful for the help we get with this special time of learning.
We will NOT be meeting this week (Dec. 1) due to an MCLA (Madison County Librarians Association) Meeting; however, we will pick back up with our schedule on Dec. 8.
If you can help out, please email Mrs. Owen: firstname.lastname@example.org
Friday, Dec. 8 = 3rd Grade Classes (Campbell & Johnson)
8:30 - 9:30 a.m.
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Friday, Dec. 15 = 3rd Grade Classes (Wells & Knight)
8:30 - 9:30 a.m.
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
2nd UAH STEM PROJECT STARTING UP!
As many of you already know, UAH Engineering Dept. joined up with a Grant from Women of Defense to build and give Harvest a marble roller coaster in April, 2017. The kids are LOVING it during Maker Space Friday!
Mrs. Fraley, from Women of Defense, has contacted us to begin our 2nd STEM Grant with them and UAH!
They plan to start up with the planning process in January, 2018! This means, our project will be ready by Summer, 2018!
Our Project is a Jungle Cat Lift Mechanism which is a project idea from PLTW.
Mrs. Bodine, Mrs. Owen, & Mrs. Vandiver are the School Contacts who are spearheading this project!
Please stay in touch throughout the year with our school and PTO FB and Twitter pages.

Project Lead the Way (PLTW)
Project Lead the Way - A hands on approach to teaching science. This is a grant that we are involved with which will help our students get involved with learning and creating. We received 50 New iPad Air 2's through the PLTW grant. These have been given to 3rd - 5th grade classrooms participating in PLTW.
Title 1 Info
Title I - We are a Title I School which benefits our students. The government has given Harvest Title I funds this year which will be used for Professional Development, Technology, and other resources. We received 24 New iPads from Title 1 funding. The Library Media Center received a Promethean Board and Projector. Our students and teachers participated in some Writing Lesson provided by Title 1 funds, also.
We received 2 mobile lab carts with chrome books this Summer, and we are excited to be able to use these in 2017 - 2018.
