SENIOR ATHLETES INFORMATION FOR YOU
Spring Senior athletes you should have gotten a google doc emailed to you that I hope you take some time to fill out and return a picture with the doc. We plan to honor one of you per day the rest of the spring starting next week. This form was sent to the 17 seniors that were listed on spring rosters. If you were missed please send an email to Mr. Thornburg and your coach telling us you did not get the google doc.
We plan to hand out spring awards in late May which will include your Letters for spring sports, Tri-Athlete Tee Shirts, Outstanding Athlete Plaques, Blanket Winners and Female/Male Senior Athlete of the year. Athlete of the year ballots will be sent out first of May by google doc watch for it and make sure you return your ballot. Not sure how the awards program is going to look like, but we will have it figured out and a plan announced later in May.
Make sure you are all engaged in your e-learning and stay safe and be healthy.

SPRING SPORT LETTERS WILL BE AWARDED
We were looking forward to watching you compete this spring and we know you would have represented Union City with pride and enthusiasm on the track, court and field of play. Thank You Indian athletes and coaches.

ImPACT testing will be scheduled later in the summer. You must test if:
– You are going to be a Junior
– You are going to be a Freshman
– You are going to be a 7th Grader
– You have not tested in the last 2 years
All Athletes must have a new physical and paperwork turned into the Athletic Department Office plus have an updated ImPACT test on file in the Athletic Trainers office by August 3rd to be able to start practicing for fall sports on Monday the 3rd of August.

Boys Basketball All Conference Team Named
Tri-Eastern Conference named their annual All Conference Boys Basketball Team. Payton Sparks of Winchester was named Player of the year. Our very own Senior Bryten Stewart was named first team All Conference and Junior Elijah Cowper was a Honorable Mention member of the 2019-2020 TEC All Conference team. Congratulations to both Bryten Stewart and Elijah Cowper for this honor. Great Job!
*New Indoor School Record*
Our Track team did get one track meet in before the Coronavirus shut down all spring sports. The track team ran at the indoor meet at Ball State University in the Muncie Burris Owl Invitational on Saturday 3/7/20. Our 4x400 team set a new Indoor School Record.
The boys 4x400 team finished in second place with a time of 3:53.46 beating the previous record of 4:01.75!
Runners for the 4X400 team are Blayne Daniels (10), Landen Dickmann (9), Tanner Spence (12) and Bryten Stewart (12). Congratulations guys keep up the good work.
John Carpenter Named Athlete Of The Week (Week of 3/2/20)
John Carpenter in our Sectional game against Tri on 3-3-2020, John scored 19 points including 4 of 10 shooting from 3 point range. He also had 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. John finished his career with fifty-one 3 point field goals on 154 attempts. John also participates in tennis and baseball.
Congratulations to John on winning this award a great way to finish up your senior year.

Union City wins JH County Wrestling Meet
After the three rounds of wrestling on two mats Monroe Central, Driver and Union City were all tied. Going through the Tie-breaker criteria the Indians came out on top by using the third criteria by having the most combined total number of falls, forfeits, defaults and disqualifications. Indians had 5 wrestlers named All County by winning their weight classes and going 3-0 on the evening.
The five champions were Corey Hoover (8), Nathan Partin (6), Braiden Daniels (7), Brandon Sizemore (8) & Brayden Timmerman (7).
2nd place Finishers; Grant Elliott (6), Aviana Ramos (6), Conner Cline (7) and Austin Hummel (8)
3rd Place Finishers: Evan Sanders (6) and Caden Stewart (8)
Elijah Cowper Named Athlete Of The Week (Week of 2/24/20)
In Union City Indians game against Centerville, Elijah Cowper scored 21 points and grabbed 17 rebounds which broke a 34 year old school record. He followed that performance against Union County with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Then against South Adams he scored 14 points and had 13 Rebounds. To finish up the regular season on 2/28/20 against Northeastern he had 10 points and 3 Rebounds. For the season Elijah is averaging 10.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg. Elijah leads our team in rebounding. He also participates in football. Congratulations to Elijah on winning this award. We are looking forward to your performances next year.
