From the Principal
Dear Copeland families,
We have had a fun and busy January. We are hoping that everyone stays healthy and well so that we can all be together at school.
February is almost here, and love is in the air! Our student council is selling ring pops for $1.00. These can be purchased online via School Cash. Ring pops will be delivered on Valentine's Day to students who purchase them. There are no class parties on Valentine's Day. Students may bring Valentines to school (please provide one for each child in the class). Small treats or toys are allowed to be shared as well. Teachers will allow students to exchange Valentines at the end of the day on Monday, February 14th.
We love our counselors at Copeland. Ms. McArthur and Ms. Roberson do a great job supporting our Colts. Counselor appreciation week is February 7-11. We also love our librarian, Mrs.Buchert. She will be hosting Reading is Sweet, our book bake off, on February 8th in the library. Scroll down to see the flyer with all the details in this edition of the Hoofbeat.
Mark your calendars for our next student holidays. February 18th will be a Teacher Work Day/student holiday, and February 21st will be a Professional Development Day/student holiday.
Thanks for your support of our great school. We love our Copeland Colts and our families.

PREVENTION
Self-Monitoring
- Students, staff and visitors must screen daily (prior to entering a school bus or school) for symptoms of COVID-19. If symptoms are experienced, individuals must not report to school or work until evaluated by a licensed healthcare provider.
- Symptoms of COVID-19 include:
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Loss of taste/smell
- Nasal congestion
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Fever at or above 100°F
- Vomiting/diarrhea
Quarantine and Isolation
- Students who show symptoms of COVID-19 at school will be evaluated by the nurse and will be excluded in accordance with CFISD communicable disease exclusion criteria.
- Students or staff members who have been in close contact (within 3-6 feet of someone for 15 minutes or more) with someone who has COVID-19 should consider quarantining unless fully vaccinated or recovered from a COVID-19 illness within the last 90 days. See “Recommended Close Contact Quarantine Protocol”.
- Students or staff members who test positive for COVID-19 must meet established criteria as stated in the “Isolation and Readmission Criteria Protocol” before returning to school or work.
Art - Amy Krengel
Students in grades K-1st need to bring in one to two brown paper bags (grocery size) for art. If you have more to donate-great.
Watch for details about Art to Remember which is an opportunity for you to purchase items featuring your child’s art.
Music - Claudia Vigil
Registrar's Office - Attendance
Dear Copeland Parents,
Transportation changes must be requested by 2:45 p.m., and the latest early pick-up time is 2:45 p.m. as well. Thank you for honoring this, as there are many moving parts at the end of each school day.
Instruction begins at 8:00 a.m. daily, and students who arrive at 8:05 a.m., or later, are marked tardy (unless they are bus riders who are never marked tardy). Please do not drop off your student if the front door is closed. Parents or guardians must sign their child in at the front office if they arrive after 8:05 a.m. Thanks for your cooperation.
If your child is absent from school, please send a signed note or a doctor’s note (if available) at the time the student returns to school.
Excuse notes must be provided to the school within three (3) days from the date of the absence, or consecutive absences.
A phone call and/or email will not excuse the student’s absence.
Students with excessive absences and/or tardiness will be referred to the district’s truancy officer.
Every day counts!
