3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Students have been meeting Wildly Important Goals!

At the beginning of the school year, every student in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade was challenged to read at least 5 of the new Texas Bluebonnet books. This list of 20 recommended books is selected to appeal to readers at this level and expose them to authors and books they might not discover on their own. Every year students seem to find new favorites!

Although we still have until the end of January, many students have already met the challenge and read their 5 books! During the last week of the month, each student that has met the challenge will be invited to the library to register and vote for the winning book in Texas. This is an amazing award for authors - as the winning book is selected by student readers only, no adult votes allowed!

Ask your student if they are ready to vote - there is still plenty of time & plenty of books available!

Thank you PTA for supporting reading & writing!

Each year our students are privileged to meet and learn from published authors and illustrators. On January 28th, students will have the opportunity to hear Jason Chin present to all students. Presentations are available for a variety of ages.

Jason Chin is the author and illustrator of a wide variety of nonfiction picture books. As we spend time preparing for his visit, students are abuzz with all of the interesting facts they are learning about unusual topics such as the Galapagos Islands, Redwood trees, and gravity.

Books will be available for autographing - all pre-orders are due January 15th. We appreciate the partnership of Barnes & Noble in providing the books and assistance in facilitating the sales. Click here for the form.
