Healthy Habits

We continue to encourage and reinforce the practice of healthy habits to help prevent the spread of communicable diseases at school. You can also help by reminding your children and family members to practice these daily healthy habits:

  • Stay home if you are sick until at least 24 hours after there is no longer a fever or signs of a fever (without the use of fever-reducing medications).

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue away after use and wash your hands. If a tissue is not available, cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve, not your hand.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Count to 20 or sing the ABC's while you wash your hands. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.

  • Provide extra opportunities for students to wash their hands throughout the school day. At Dryden, there are hand sanitizer dispensers at the entrance to the commons, LMC and in the hallways.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs spread this way.

  • Do not share eating utensils or drinking containers.

  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students and staff healthy during this season and throughout the school year.

Lunch Recess Supervisor Opportunity

Dryden is currently seeking additional supervisors during the lunch recess hour, 12:10 - 1:10 PM. The position is for 2.5 hours per week until March 20, 2020 and 5 hours per week from March 30 through the end of the school year. You can apply online by clicking here. Please contact Assistant Principal Stefanie Beane at sbeane@sd25.org or 847-398-4280 if you have any questions. Starting pay is $14.70 / hour. It's a great way to get some fresh air and exercise while supporting kids in positive play!

Illinois Assessment of Readiness

The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) is given to all students in third through eighth grade. This assessment is built to evaluate students on the Illinois Learning Standards. All students in these grade levels are tested in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Your child will take the IAR assessment in the coming weeks. Please look for communication from your child's classroom teacher about the specific dates and times that the assessments will be given in your child's class.

Please visit the Dryden PTA website for important information on Dr. Bein's Presentation on Bullying, Parent Education Opportunities in the District, Parents Night Out, and other items of interest.
