Free Drug Awareness Presentation with Sergeant Danielle Lo Russo
Sergeant Lo Russo will present the following information:
Update on our nation's and region's drug epidemic
The program will overview current information regarding opiate abuse, the latest trends for controlled dangerous substances, and protocols on how to report identified or suspicious substance abuse. There will also be an opportunity for an interactive learning role playing scenario. With the proper training, educators should be able to identify the signs of drug abuse at an early enough stage to combat the problem and help students.
High School and Middle School Student & Parent Program
This seminar will address how to organize a monthly meeting for students on a peer-to-peer basis. Secondly, the Steered Straight Program, which focuses on informing parents about how to recognize substance abuse in children and what to do.
Elementary schools educating our youth on coping mechanisms and socialization
This aspect of the program equips elementary student with coping skills. What is coping? Coping refers to what a person does in order to avoid, remove, minimize, or “get through” a stressful situation. Coping is defined as the process of making adaptations to meet personal needs and to respond to the demands of the environment. The coping process uses personal resources to manage routines, frustrations, and challenges of daily life in ways that seek to maintain or enhance feelings of wellbeing.
