What is the temperature on the planet?...

The average temperature on Neptune is 218 degrees Celsius.

Does the planet have any gravity like Earth?...

The surface gravity on Neptune is about 110% of the gravity on Earth. (If you weighed 100 lbs. on Earth, you'd weigh 110 lbs. on Neptune)

What is the surface of the planet like?...

Neptune doesn't have any solid surface, it is made of gas.

How long does it take for the planet to orbit the sun?...

It takes Neptune 164.79 years to orbit the sun. That's just about 165 times longer than Earth!

How long does it take for the planet to turn around?...

It takes Neptune only 15 hours, 57 minutes, and 59 second to turn around once.

What is the weather like on the planet?...

Neptune has huge storms with HIGH winds up to 1340 MPH!

Does the planet have any rings or moons?...

Yes, Neptune has several rings with 3 main ones. Neptune has several moons also.

What is the planet composed of?...

Neptune is composed of gasses, mainly hydrogen, helium, and methane, which are all very cold gasses.

How or when was the planet discovered?...

Neptune was discovered by Berlin Observatory astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle used the calculations by Le Verrier to find Neptune within just 1° of its predicted location, and just 12° of Adams' predictions. Both astronomers claimed that they were the first to discover the planet, and it led to an international dispute.

How did the planet get its name?...

Astronomers decided to name planets after roman gods and they named Neptune, a blue planet, after the Roman god of the sea.

Can the planet be viewed from Earth?...

You can only view Neptune from Earth with a telescope.
