Chapter 11 Lesson 2
Science Kaitlyn Draper
Momentum
Momentum is the combination of mass and speed.
Newton's first law of motion
Newton's first law of motion states that an object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon.
Newton's second law of motion
How fast an object goes depends on the object's mass and the amount of net force applied to it
Newton's third law of motion
For every action force there is an equal and opposite reaction force.
Mass and weight
Mass and weight are different properties. Mass is the amount of matter in an object. Weight is the the force of gravity pulling down on an object.
Newton's law of universal gravitation
The planets, the stars, and all the particles of matter exert gravitational force.
