Happy 100th Day of School!
Monday, January 24th was the 100th Day of School at Brookwood Elementary! Here are some pictures from celebrations around the school building.

2nd & 3rd Grade Spring Skills and Games
The Skills and Games Club will be available to 2nd and 3rd grade students this spring. An application and permission slip must be filled out and turned in to Mrs. Wardle before participating. The Skills and Games Club will be limited to 30 participants.
Meeting Dates: The Skills and Games Club will be held every Thursday from 7:45-8:20am on the following dates:
- Feb 10, 24
- Mar 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
- Apr 14, 21, 28
Skills and Games will be held in the BES gym. Participants should bring their own water bottle (if wanted) and dress appropriately for movement and wear sneakers. Activities will include jump roping, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, and group games.
Expectations:
Members are expected to show exemplary behavior by giving their best effort, having a positive attitude, and upholding the highest standard of behavior.
Transportation:
Please drop your child off in the front of the building no earlier than 7:40 am. Students will all walk down to the gym together at 7:45am.
If there are any problems following these expectations, students may be asked to drop out of the club.

Kids Heart Challenge is coming on January 31st!
The Kids Heart Challenge is January 31st - February 13th. Look for more information in your child's Friday Folder about sign up. Please help us meet our $8,000 donation goal for the American Heart Association. Rewards include:
- free bracelet for registration
- Mystery gifts for every $50 raised
- Top class in each grade level wins a PJ Day
- Top class in the school will have the gym named after them for the rest of the school year
Yearbook Pre-Orders End on February 4th
Place your order now through February 4th to purchase this year's yearbook for the low price for $38.00. (Credit card installment plan is available.)
2022 PTA Father Daughter Dance
Tickets are now on sale for PTA's Father Daughter Dance on February 25, 2022 in the Brookwood High School Commons Area. There will be light snacks, refreshments, DJ, and a photo booth.
Purchase tickets on MyPaymentsPlus by February 21st. Limited Tickets Available, so order early! Due to Covid protocols, masks are required.
Gwinnett Alliance for Gifted Education Summer Scholarship for 2nd - 5th Grade Gifted Students
Students in the 2nd -5th grade gifted program may apply for a $100 summer scholarship.
To apply, the student must write an essay of 300 words or less to answer the question below. All essays are due to the front office by February 16th and must include student name, school, and homeroom teacher.

Did you know that Brookwood ES has a Health Response Team (HRT) which manages and communicates COVID related information with staff, students and parents? The HRT gathers information, conducts contact investigations and communicates as needed. In the next few months, it is important that you continue to alert the school if your child develops symptoms or tests positive for the virus.
Common symptoms include:
Fever (100.4 or higher), Cough, Shortness of breath, muscle/body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting, sore throat, fatigue
