Thursday Tech Session
This Thursday, Louise will be running the Tech afternoon, as I will be at the GATs camp. Louise will be there to go through Weebly with any new staff members and the interns and support anyone working on their Weebly class pages.
If anyone has any other tech questions, please feel free to come along and ask them! We're there to help.
Thanks Louise!

Literacy Resources
Teaching sentence structure?
Alan Peat is a well known UK educational presenter, with a particular interest in writing. He has come up with some sentence formulas to try and provide students with prompts for using different sentence structures in their writing. Check out these sites for resources created based on Alan Peat's book - 'Writing Exciting Sentences'
Sentence type posters (pdf)
TES - Sentence type posters (pdf)
Alan Peat's Free Resources
One school have even developed a scope and sequence for teaching these sentences K-6. You can see the document here.
Finally a blog post by Alan Peat about his sentences and a do and don't list for teaching them.
Alan also has a book on Teaching Punctuation, which you can preview here.
Both books can only be purchased from Creative Educational Press and need to be shipped from the UK. They cost about AU$30 each (including shipping).

The Literacy Shed
I know I've included The Literacy Shed site before but while we are on the subject of writing I thought it deserved another mention, as it is continuously being updated and has so many resources!
Storytelling Websites
This website has a bucketload of links to storytelling sites on the Internet.
Teach Your Monster To Read
Teach Your Monster To Read has recently been updated. It's a great Literacy site for little ones, providing games at the student's level and repeat practise at sounds that they get incorrect. Definitely one worth putting a link to on your class blog or popping onto your homework sheet to let parents know about.
Mr Nussbaum's Site
Mr Nussbaum's site is an extensive collection of games and activities for all KLAs. Search by topic or by grade. What I like about this site is that he has also categorised activities into those that can be used on an iPad in the browser.
Apps to try...
Frame Artist +
Create your own collages of images or use one of the many templates available to create invitations, calendars, postcard, magazine articles or newspaper pages.
Thinking Blocks
There are four iPad apps in this range covering Addition/Subtraction, Multiplication/Division, Fractions and Ratios. Check out the website about the apps here.
App Search Engine
Looking for an app that does something specific or maybe has information on a particular topic? Check out Quixey - A search engine for apps for iPads, Androids and websites too!
You made it to the end...
Well done! Bring your USB to me and I'll put a present on there for you.
