What's New This Week?
This week we begin Journeys Lesson 4 in Language Arts. Our Essential Question this week is "What might cause a story character to change?" When reading with your child this week this could be one question to discuss together. Our new story is Diary of a Spider. Phonics strategies are long vowels o, u, and e, and sounds for g. In writing we will focus on nouns and Writing to Narrate a True Story.

Spelling test on Friday!
Our spelling focus this week is words with long vowels o and u. Word lists can be found on our classroom website along with a link to the website Spelling City. This website is a great resource for your child with fun spelling games and practice tests using their word list.
ENVISIONS MATH - This week we will complete an in-class review for our Topic 2 test which students will take on Tuesday. Next, we begin Topic 3 and our goal is to learn many subtraction strategies, as well as problem solving involving two question problems.
FIRST IN MATH - Labels were put inside homework books with log-in information for "First in Math" website. This is a wonderful activity to help strengthen your child's math skills on different levels. We will visit this site often in school, but at home practice is strongly encouraged. We will check the site each week to see who the "Players of the Week" are with the highest amount of stickers. They will wear a badge all day. The kiddos LOVE this site and are very excited!
