Hello Families!
We are so excited to bring you a NEW Bookfair experience with Literati as our new vendor this spring. This opens up the selection of books to many more publishers and encourages literacy for all of our scholars and their families. Please take a look at our online fair, available here through March 8. You can also visit this website to create an electronic gift card for your student. This replaces an e-Wallet, and allows for a cashless payment option.
Lastly, Literati offers their monthly book clubs as a "bookfair in a box". If you subscribe during our fair, Weaver Lake continues to get 10% of all books you purchase as a reward to the school. And there is a 3-month discount available here!
If you want to volunteer at the bookfair, click here to look for open shifts. We'd love for you to see the joy our students get from browsing the bookfair. The book fair will be open for family/public shopping during all parent teacher conference times on Feb 29, Mar 4, and Mar 7. Teacher/classroom wishlists will be available.
Thank you for helping us wrap up our Read-a-thon and support Read Across America week (Mar 4-8) while supporting our school with the NEW Literati bookfair.
PTO $8 T-shirt Closeout Sale March 1-15
The PTO is holding an online-only “$8 closeout sale” for the remaining Open House t-shirts with

website: https://2023-2024-open-house-t-shirt-closeout-sale.cheddarup.com to make purchases. If you

Weaver Wear Recycle Project update
Weaver Wear Recycle Project Year-End Wrap-Up
The second year of the Weaver Wear Recycle Project was another success. This year, we
received 23 donated items that were distributed to Weaver Lake Elementary students to enable
them to participate in Weaver Wear Days! The four donated adult items will be used as part of a
staff appreciation giveaway this spring. We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to our generous
families who donated items to students at our school.
This summer, when you are gearing up for back-to-school and find Weaver Wear that you are
ready to pass along to a new home, please think of the WWRP and bring the items to one of the
donation events throughout the year. We appreciate everyone who donated gently used Weaver
Wear this year, and I hope we continue to have this community involvement for years to come!
How To Request a Donated Weaver Wear Item:
If you would like to request for your student(s) to receive a donated Weaver Wear item, please
reach out to Libby Lorron, Weaver Lake Elementary School Social Worker, at
LorronL@district279.org. Libby maintains the stock of donated items and makes sure every item
can find a new home. She’ll work with you to find the right size and style so that your students
can rock their new Weaver Wear around the halls!

Open Positions
Are you interested in making a difference within Weaver Lake Elementary? Do you want to impact the educational experience for our students? If so, come and join us!! The 2024-2025 school year will start with three officer positions opening, cycling through a 2-year term. It's okay to nominate yourself to show interest in the openings. These positions will be voted on at our May meeting, and the positions will start in May 2024. We are looking for volunteers to fill the following positions:
- President - The President presides over meetings of the PTO and executive board, serves as the primary contact for the principal, represents the PTO at meetings outside the PTO, serves as an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee, and coordinates the work of all the officers and committees so that the purpose of the PTO is served. This position is a two-year term.
- Vice President - The Vice President assists the President and carries out the President's duties in their absence or inability to serve. The Vice President also oversees the committees of the PTO. Membership focus/connecting with parents, Responsible for Open House and K Orientation, Financial reviewer. This position is a two-year term.
- Communications Coordinator - The Communications Coordinator oversees all PTO communications, including the PTO newsletter, website, social media, and emails. This position is a two-year term.
We also have the following position open that was not filled in the last election:
- Fundraising Coordinator - Support our talented group! Oversee the planning process of all PTO events and fundraisers, recruit chairpersons as needed, and create and submit facility permits.
In addition, we also have the following volunteer Chair positions open.
- Nominating Chairperson - The sad reality is our children move on to middle school, our friends move away, or time is no longer available for our current volunteers to help run our programs. At the end of each school year, the PTO posts the open officer positions and any volunteer needs for the next school year. The Nominating Chairperson oversees this process and the nominees for our election for the next school year.
- Read-a-thon Chairperson - Unleash the magic of reading! Lead our beloved Read-a-thon, where students channel their bookworm power into incredible fundraising feats.
- Interested in something else - Reach out and tell us your ideas on how you can help!
To view more information on various PTO Job duties, please view our Weaver Lake PTO Book of job duties.
If you are interested in ANY of these positions, want to learn more, or want to "job shadow" a current member - please email the PTO officers at officers@weaverlakepto.org. We are running without a nomination chairperson, so we are all working together to help fill these positions.
Please note: The organization's governing documents (bylaws) state that the positions of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Communication, and Fundraising Coordinator are to be opened up every two years. Doing this allows fresh ideas and equal representation.
