BlendED Training Group B1

Sixty-seven teachers joined us last Thursday and Friday for days 3 and 4 of their six-day BPS BlendED Professional Learning training. It was so fun to have them back and to feel their excitement as they continue on this incredible learning journey. They are thrilled to be the next 1:1 iPad classrooms in the district and eager to transform their classrooms. The training focused on digital workflow with Schoology, targeting instruction with formative data, creation and Apple Teacher development. They will return in early April for their final two days of training. After those two days, the teachers will receive their classroom set of iPads along with classroom coaching.

#ipadacademy Chat

New this year is our #ipadacademy Twitter chat. The chat allows our teachers to have an online conversation, share ideas, and be inspired. Our next #ipadacademy chat is Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 8:00 PM CST. All are welcome so feel free to join the conversation. We are incredibly proud of the #ipadacademy teachers who have stepped up to lead each month’s chat this semester and how they generously share their innovative ideas with others. The last chat will be held on Tuesday, May 15th, 2018

Let the “APP MADNESS” Begin

March is an exciting time for basketball fans everywhere. Brackets are being filled and fans are ready to cheer on their teams. The excitement is contagious! So, how do we incorporate technology into all of the Madness? Well, thanks to the ever so creative and sports-minded @ESailie13, the second year of App Madness is upon us! Emily takes the apps used by students and teachers and generates the brackets. Everything from creating to coding to workflow is included. As votes roll in and are tallied, the app receiving the most moves on. Click here to follow her on twitter and get your votes in! Can’t wait to see which app is the POWERHOUSE this year!

Tech Tips

Powerschool - Family 2 Information Now Available

Previously, teachers had to get ‘Family 2’ information from the secretaries/registrars. It is now on the Demographics screen that teachers have in their Student Info menu (the "backpack" icon). If the information is entered into PowerSchool (family 2 address, email, phone numbers, etc.), it will now appear on the Demographics screen.

Google

Apple Safari and Google Chrome are both amazing browsers, and both are recommended for use in BPS (Safari is pre-install and you can download Chrome in Self Service). If you use either of these browsers, here are a few great shortcuts that will make your day just a little bit better!

Hashtags Telling Our Story

One of the most powerful parts of Twitter is the hashtag! It connects people, ideas, and creates communities within Twitter. It is a unique way for our teachers and administrators to share the amazing things happening in our schools, classrooms, clubs, teams and organizations. Our district hashtag, #bpsne, continues to grow and is becoming a powerful tool that we can leverage as a district to connect all of our teachers, students, parents, and community members. We encourage you to continue sharing the great things happening in your classrooms. Here is a list of all of the Bellevue Public School educators on Twitter. Let's create the 2016-2017 Bellevue Public Schools story together!
