Early Years
He was born to working class immigrant parents in Tennessee. He had enough education to become a lawyer. Jackson was also elected as a U.S. Representative and Senator when Tennessee became a state. Born to working class immigrant yet he achieved such great achievements even before he became president is amazing. That is why he is known as the "common man".
Winning the Election
What truly made Jackson so popular was when he defeated a larger British force in the War of 1812 at New Orleans. Now everybody liked him and called him a war hero. There was one reason why Jackson won his second election against John Quincy Adam was that all white men could vote not just those that were rich.
The Spoils System
The spoils system is a system that rewards people that support him with a political job. This created many job opportunities for people and it also got many people into politics making people more actively involved in politics.
