Point View School
NEWSLETTER - Week 3, Term 2 - 20 May 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
In the second week of term, there was a meeting of the Family and Friends committee. I am grateful to Phoebe Brown who volunteered to take on the role of Chairperson. The school is also very grateful to Sieumuoi Hancock who has given her time and energy so freely over the past few years fulfilling this role so effectively.
It was a very small group who met for this meeting. In fact, just Sieumuoi, Phoebe, Tanya Edwards from the school office, Karen Brunning who is staff rep and me were present. This is a symptom of COVID which has disrupted our Family and Friends team.
It’s time to start to rebuild. I know that there are many parents, grandparents and other caregivers who would love to get involved in running fun events and help out in the school through Family and Friends.
It is entirely up to you how much or how little you contribute in terms of commitment and time. We need committee members who can devote a few hours every few weeks but there is also room for those who may only have a few hours each year to contribute to one specific activity.
Please show your interest using this form so we can build up a data base and get you involved.

ROAD PATROL HELP NEEDED
We urgently need help with the crossing on Kilkenny Drive on Mondays from 8:20am to 8:50am and from 2:50pm to 3:15pm. We have no parent help to supervise the crossing at the moment. If you can help, please contact the office at admin@pointview.school.nz. This is a very important role as it involves the safety of all our students.
AN AMAZING BUTTERFLY By Darshi Subramanian
There is a transparent little egg on a green plant. Then the egg hatches and out pops a caterpillar! The caterpillar is small at first so it eats its eggshell. Then it crawls around and eats leaves and it gets fat. The monarch caterpillar finds a leaf and it starts making a chrysalis.
The butterfly hangs inside the chrysalis and it stays there for two weeks. It is squashed because the blood is in his abdomen. He wriggles out of the chrysalis and he dries his wings. Now the wings of the monarch spread out. The caterpillar has turned into an incredible, orange monarch butterfly! It flutters around to visit beautiful flowers. I love monarch butterflies!
EXCITING BREAKING NEWS!
It's Middle School Production time with the audition process in full swing. We have had some amazing talented actors come through last week and it certainly is going to be tough work casting the roles. This years' Middle School Production of 'Cinderella & Rockerfella' will be held in Term 4, dates yet to be finalised. Watch this space!
DO YOU ENJOY PLAYING CHESS?
We have some chess enthusiasts at school and are looking for an interested adult who would be willing to spend some time at lunchtimes encouraging this team of students. Your time commitment can be flexible. Please contact Tina Joshua-Bargh at t.joshua-bargh@pointview.school.nz if you think this sounds like you.
