THE PRIDE PRESS
ESSEX ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
September 16, 2022
We have had a wonderful week of learning at EES. I have really enjoyed chatting with students this week as they practice old skills, learn new information, and build relationships with each other. We have been focusing on our 2nd school rule (We Take Care of Each Other) this week and students are doing an outstanding job!
You may have heard students talking about the changes in recess at home. We have planned a slow start to recess this year where students practice and learn new games/activities in different zones of our playground. We are finding this to be very successful. Students are learning the expectations, keeping each other safe and having fun. Once students have learned all of the zones at recess, we open them up for free play.
Have a wonderful weekend with your families,

Social Emotional Learning
During the first month of school, our Social Emotional Learning focus has been all about building school community and learning our three School Rules:
The things we do to help ourselves feel good and get ready for learning and play.
The things we do to help other people feel good.
The things we do to keep our school building, tools, and toys in good shape.
As we have been learning about what these rules look and sound like all around Essex Elementary School, we have been celebrating when we see students following these rules with our I Caught You… Cards!
Every morning, Mrs. Gray reads these fantastic examples of our students following our school rules and their I Caught You… Cards are hung up in our cafeteria!
