We have had a wonderful week of learning at EES. I have really enjoyed chatting with students this week as they practice old skills, learn new information, and build relationships with each other. We have been focusing on our 2nd school rule (We Take Care of Each Other) this week and students are doing an outstanding job!

You may have heard students talking about the changes in recess at home. We have planned a slow start to recess this year where students practice and learn new games/activities in different zones of our playground. We are finding this to be very successful. Students are learning the expectations, keeping each other safe and having fun. Once students have learned all of the zones at recess, we open them up for free play.

Have a wonderful weekend with your families,

Ashley Gray (EES Principal)

Mrs. Thayer's Class

Kindergarteners are learning play skills during SEL lessons with Mrs. Heaslip! They have been learning how to ask to join in and fair ways to play.

Mrs. Yandell's Second Grade

Our class is working on our cooperative partner skills. Here we are playing math games with a friend - working on combinations to 10!

Fun in the Art Room!

Please remind your child to check the lost and found. It is filling up with sweatshirts, rain boots, water bottles and lunch bags! Parents are welcome to stop by and check the lost and found, too. Remember to LABEL everything you send to school and we can easily return it to your child when we find it!

School Rules

As we have been learning about what these rules look and sound like all around Essex Elementary School, we have been celebrating when we see students following these rules with our I Caught You… Cards!

Every morning, Mrs. Gray reads these fantastic examples of our students following our school rules and their I Caught You… Cards are hung up in our cafeteria!
