Student Engagement - 6 ways to KNOW your students are engaged

We know engagement is essential to learning. If students do not make a connection and don't experience some interaction or otherwise engage with what we want them to learn, there is little chance that learning will result.

Engagement is the gateway to learning, yet engagement is not the same thing as learning. A student and appear engaged because they are calmly staring at us while we teach, yet they may just be bored and good and faking it.

So, how do we know when our students are engaged. Below are 6 ways to KNOW your students are engaged.

Next Mentoring Session & Observation

Mid-Year Reflection & Observations

The document below (3.1) will be the guide for our first mentoring session back. If you did not get a chance to complete it during break please try to work through it before we meet. Also, keep in mind we are required to do 3 full, bell to bell observations. Lets shoot to get two done before spring break if possible....

ETM's - don't neglect them

There are three types of ETMs and numerous titles from which to choose. ETMs can be completed online or in face-to-face sessions. Additionally, you have the option to go with your mentor for a half-day (sub provided) to observe effective peers for one ETM. A full listing of the ETMs available can be found at http://www.bluevalleyk12.org/etm.
