Volunteer Opportunity!

Hello all!

I hope you're having a great summer. A couple of items as we look towards heading back to school:

1. We will be doing one more volunteer weekend August 19th & 20th in the garden to get ready for school. Activities will include painting the shed, putting down landscaping fabric, and spreading some woodchips. We may also do some bed cleanup. Please sign up if you can make it! We'll have something for everyone.

Aug 19th & 20th sign up

2. As a big THANK YOU to all our volunteers over the last year, I'm hosting a cookout at my house on August 26th. Burgers, hot dogs, corn and beverages. The whole family is welcome. I'll send out an invite a little closer to the date, but please mark your calendars! We'll do open house style from 4pm till 8pm, stop by whenever you can. I live in Fairfield.

*****This is NOT a school sponsored event*****

3. We have squash boring insects at the garden! When you go to water, please keep an eye out for copper colored groupings of small eggs on the top or bottom of our squash and pumpkin plants. They really look like tiny little BB pellets, slightly ovoid in shape, clinging to the leaf in a regular grid pattern. If you see any, just cut off the offending leaf or part of leaf and throw it in the garbage.

Thank you! We couldn't do this without all of your hard work. And as always, if things have changed and you'd like to be removed from the email group, just let me know!

Jo
