Strategic Plan: Meeting December 6th at 6:30PM in the Library

We are continuing our strategic planning process for Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School. Eventually we will be working closely with Catholic School's Management to help us with this process. A strategic plan is a living, breathing document that will help Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School continue to grow forward in all areas. We began this process last year and made many changes based on parent, student, and teacher feedback and surveys. The goal is to observer, research, survey, and create a document of goals with a timeline and accountability factors to be formally written and monitored. We will begin meeting about this survey process within the next few weeks. Please email lrios@smgschool.org if interested in participating in this process. Meetings will be held monthly during the school day and in the evenings. Depending on the category, there may be more frequent meetings to prepare for researching and reporting at monthly meetings. The categories are listed below as stated by TCCED:

Mission and Catholic Identity - Need two to three participants to work with Advisory Council chair, principal, and pastor to help set goals

Governance and Leadership - Need one to two participants to work with Advisory Council chair, principal, and pastor to help set goals

Academic Excellence - Need two participants to gain understanding of current practices and work forward to set goals for campus needs

Operational Vitality - Need two to three participants to help with research and development to set goals for advancement, enrollment, fundraising, and budgeting needs.

Technology - Need two to three participants to work with Advisory Council chair, Technology Director, Business Manager, and Principal to set a five year plan for technology

Facilities - Need three to four people to work with the principal and pastor to help research and develop a comprehensive master five year facility plan for the entire school campus

We would appreciate any time, expertise, and support from our community and parents in working through the strategic planning process with the intentions of growing Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School forward in forming students closer to Christ. If interested in any of the categories, please join us for the meeting on December 6th at 6:30 in the school library.

Prayers

Please keep eight year old Aaron Moran, brother to Avery (5th) and Caleb (8th) in your prayers. On December 13th, Aaron is having surgery. Aaron has autism, hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy and epilepsy due to his premature birth. After years of failed efforts to control his seizures with medications, the decision was made to do surgery in hopes of reducing and possibly eliminating the seizures. On the 13th, Dr. Donahue at Cook Children's Hospital will perform a functional hemispherectomy on Aaron. The surgery involves removing the left side of Aaron's brain. This is the side that sustained the most damage from a stroke Aaron suffered at birth. This is where Aaron's seizures are originating from, and the hope is that by removing the damaged portion of the brain, the seizures will cease. Please lift the Moran family up in prayer as they will be in the hospital for 3-4 weeks. A sign-up genius for meals will be set up on our school website no later than Tuesday, December 6th. If wanting to contribute through gift cards, SCRIP will be available in the office and Mrs. Malloy will collect and deliver cards to the Moran family.

Please keep all of our teachers, students, and family members healing from sickness, surgeries, and medical concerns in your prayers.

Pray that we grow closer to Christ in every word we speak, every person we encounter, and every step we take.

Continue to pray for our Bishop, priests, administrators, educators, and parents as we continue to guide these young disciples closer to Christ.
