Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ:3 and ASQ:SE-2)
Don't forget to complete BOTH questionnaires as soon as possible.
These were due Wednesday, September 21st. We are at 9/15 complete in the class. This is a requirement for GSRP students and I don't want it to come down to your child not being able to return until it is completed. Please do them asap. Thank you!
Mitchell Farm: 3500 Mitchell Rd, Holly
HOWEVER, Mitchell Farm is still a WONDERFUL place to go with the family. They have a market with pumpkins, mums, gourds, etc. They do cider and donuts. On the weekends there are hayrides and u-pick pumpkins. They used to have really fun play areas and some animals; I'm not sure they still do but I would be really surprised if they didn't.
All this to say, if you're looking for a fall place to visit, keep this open as an option!!
School Board of Education Elections
The upcoming election on November 8th has some very important ballot items. Two of these directly affect Fenton Schools. With children in the school system, YOU (Fenton residents/taxpayers) now have a very vested interest in this.
First is the renewal of the Sinking Fund https://www.fentonschools.org/page/sinking-fund-2022
Secondly is the election of Fenton School Board members that should not get lost in the shuffle. There are THREE seats open this term.
Current Fenton Board of Education
Keith A. Reynolds, President – Term Expires: 12/31/2022 - running for re-election
Emily K. Rossmaessler, Vice President – Term Expires: 12/31/2026
Pamela A. Dickie, Treasurer – Term Expires: 12/31/2024
Dana L. Jones, Secretary – Term Expires: 12/31/2024
Nicolas Lecea, Trustee – Term Expires: 12/31/2022 - running for re-election
Scott A. Pushman, Trustee – Term Expires: 12/31/2022 - not seeking re-election
Matthew Welch, Trustee – Term Expires: 12/31/2026
There are six candidate to look into for these seats:
- Keith Reynolds - running for re-election, unable to interview with MEA
- Nicholas Lecea - running for re-election, completed interview with MEA
- Ashley Prew, completed interview with MEA
- Renee Juhl, completed interview with MEA
- Mike Pearce, completed interview with MEA
- Rachelle Edmunds, declined interview with MEA
It would be easy to think of this as a popularity contest but with the educational future of your children at stake, the decision requires due diligence. Some points to consider:
- What are the candidates ideas and positions? Most of them have Facebook campaign pages. Search the name followed by "Fenton School Board"
- Do they have school board experience?
- Do they have educator experience?
- Did they interview with MEA (Michigan Education Association)?
- Did they get an MEA endorsement (can be found on the MEA website)?
More information on the Fenton School Board can be found here https://www.fentonschools.org/page/board-of-education
Time to Start Looking
We had A LOT of cold hands yesterday. Next week looks the same or cooler.
Once we hit winter temperatures, the thin stretch mittens/gloves will not be enough. Maybe start keeping an eye out for the thick water resistant mittens (much preferred) or gloves (second picture with blue example).
I only bring this up because in the winter, too many kids come to school to play in the snow with those thin stretch kind and are miserable within 10 minutes of our 30 minute outdoor playtime.
Fall Mitten
Insulated/water resistant Mittens
Sneezes and Coughs
If you have to sneeze, remember to sneeze in your elbow
Achoo, achoo

***Replace sneeze with cough. :-)
Costume Swap
While we do not have a Halloween or Costume party as a classroom, everyone at WoW is invited to be part of the Costume Swap. If you have costumes you no longer need, then you can bring them in. Then you can "shop" for a new costume. No cost!
This will run sometime in October. I'll let you know for sure when I get those details.
School Supplies
We are not allowed to ask parents for supplies. However...I will say that there are some things that we use (not school supplied) and run out of very quickly:
- real Paper towels - the school provided towels are the thin brown ones that absorb absolutely nothing when it comes to washing tables multiple times a day and cleaning up drink spills.
- Disinfecting wipes
