Best Education Experience
I remember walking into my kindergarten classroom, being excited and nervous. My teacher, Mrs. Roache, greeted us at the door. We all sat down on the rug and I remember she played some music. It was loud. She did some really weird dance like a chicken, bobbing her head back and forth. All of a sudden she jumped up on the table and she was clapping her hands, singing really loud, and stomping her feet. From then on, I realized that I wanted to have a fun and exciting classroom.
Best Friend
My best friend is a girl I met my junior year of high school. I transferred to a new high school that year. Shannon and I became best friends our senior year. We had 5 out of 6 classes. We became very close. Throughout college we stayed connected and saw each other often. When I went to the College of Charleston, Shannon went into the Navy. This past December we got to see each other for the first time in two years. The nice thing about it was, nothing changed. She will always be my best friend.
Important People in My Life
The most important people in my life are first, my parents. They have given me the love and support to get through some of the most difficult and challenging times of my life. They have supported my decisions and been there for me ever since I can remember.
My grandparents are very important to me. I have always been close to them. (both sides of grandparents) My brother and I admire our grandparents. Each set of grandparents have raised a few of our cousins. Therefore, we grew up going over our grandparents house and also being with our cousins.
Lastly, the most important person of my life is my boyfriend, Brandon. He is the sweetest southern boy that came into my life. I am very lucky to have him.
Something Unique
Something unique about myself is that I have arthritis. Although this is not something I wish on me, its how I handled controlling my arthritis. I was 15 years old when I got diagnosed. This was a big shock to myself and my family. I was a dancer, softball, and soccer player. I did not let my arthritis make me upset or down. Recently, I have gotten very much into yoga and a healthy life style. I am currently doing a Paleo diet. It is challenging, but when I think back, arthritis was challenging, not the diet.
New Hampshire!
This is my family. My dad driving, my mom taking the selfie, my nana Sherman (Dad's mom), her little black dog Lola, our family dog, Dixie. Me, my boyfriend, Brandon, and our dog, Annie! This is our favorite place in New Hampshire. It is Lake Winniepesauke. My dad and mom have been going since they were young children.
First Day of Kindergarten
This is my parents, Scott and Julie on their first day of Kindergarten. I love sharing this picture because my parents have been together their whole entire lives. They grew up as neighbors. My grandparents are great friends and my aunts and uncles are all best friends. I feel very fortunate to grow up with a close knit family.
My Boyfriend
This is my boyfriend, Brandon. We have been dating for a little over a year and a half. He is truly my best friend. I have never met someone so respectful and loving. It is great because my parents love him, which is very important.
Annie!
Brandon and I adopted our dog Annie very early in our relationship. We hunted all day for the perfect dog. We were about to give up, when we found her online from Palmetto Paws. It was closing time for Petco, in Mt. P (where they were stationed outside), we called Petco and told them we would be rushing over to look at the puppies. We were nervous because we did not know if she would still be there or not. We were walking up to the cages, Annie picks her head up and tilted her head. We turned and looked at each other and said, "We need to get her right now!" She is a Border Collie Lab Mix. She is the sweetest puppy I have ever encountered and met. She is a year and half old. I have also never met a dog more loving and loyal to both her owners. She looks to both of us as her "alpha".
DISNEY!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE DISNEY! Brandon and I are going to Disney this upcoming May. We are so excited. We are going for 9 days and doing it all.
Baby? Brother
This is my baby brother Austin. I say "baby" because he really is younger than me (by two years), but he looks so much older than me. He rocks the "Man Bun" and his hair is longer than mine. We are best friends. I came down to College of Charleston my sophomore year. He is an artist and was deciding between two schools. RISD (in Rhode Island) and SCAD (Savannah). He went to Savannah to be closer to me (: Its nice because we are only two hours away from each other.
What Do I Want From This Class?
I am jealous at the fact that my brother has done scholastic awards for his art work and his creative eye for photography. I have always tried to become more artistic but it never worked. I love to color, I think its very relaxing. What I would like to take away from this class is just to have an open mind and have creative ideas for my classroom.
Why Education?
I feel like I connect with children. I am a big child myself. I love to watch children grow developmentally and physically. When I was younger, I would always teach my little brother and cousins. We would play house and school. I also feel as if I have a motherly instinct, which allows me to connect with children on a personal level and gain the trust with them.
