Let's connect with our hardworking teachers!
At the materials pickup on October 13th, we will give students a chance to connect with their teachers and an opportunity to say thank you. Each classroom, PE, and music (Raaum and Angle), Science teacher will have a black reusable bag where students can leave a thank you card, drawing, craft, or anything else they can imagine. These bags provide students the chance to create something to be given directly to their teachers. Our teachers are working endlessly to make distance learning possible, and we hope our students will use this as a fun way to connect with them.
Fall ThinkWorks Opportunities start this week!

Hello Alamo Families! Thank you to everyone who participated in our Q&A event last week. It was a useful conversation and offered perspectives from parents, teachers, and staff on returning to school in a hybrid format. I know there is still a lot of information we need to receive in order to make a decision before we have to declare one way or the other on November 13. I invite you to please mark your calendars for the following, so you can be informed:
Tuesday, October 6 @ 7 pm: Board of Education Meeting. Watch here
Wednesday, October 7 @ 7 pm: Townhall with Superintendent John Malloy. This Townhall is for the Monte Vista High School feeder pattern, but all are welcome to join. Watch here
Tuesday, October 27 @ 7 pm: Board of Education Meeting. Watch here
Wednesday, November 4 @ 6:30 pm - PTA Chat with the Principal. Zoom details will be released as we get closer.
I also urge you to email Principal Salazar msalazar@srvusd.net and our Board of Education member Ken Mintz kmintz@srvusd.net with questions or concerns. The more the District and the Board hears from us, the more we may be heard!

ALAMO LIBRARY AVAILABLE AGAIN!!
Everyone at Alamo misses you!! And Alamo students are missing an important part of school this year too – going to the library. Even though you have been hearing books online, we know you want to check some out and have them at home. Since our in-person visits are on hold, we are going to start circulating our wonderful collection and distributing them curbside! In order to do that, students will look at our online catalog and put the books they want to check out on hold. Please see the short video on how to do that here: Intruction video
The books will be pulled, checked out, wrapped with student name and distributed on our next distribution day, OCTOBER 13. These books will be due on our next distribution day, November 10, or they can be returned to the box in front of the office at any time. We will start with fifth and fourth grades holding/checking out two books, third and second grades one book. First and kindergarten will be able to check out later, after we see how this beginning phase goes. You will be notified by email if you have a book to be picked up. Disregard the dates that pop up on the catalog.
If you have overdue books from last year, you won’t be able to check out new books, so get those back!
Put the books you want on hold by October 7 so I will have time to collect them all. If you have questions, contact me at mwehrle@srvusd.net
Thanks!
Mrs. Wehrley
