Early Learners Highlights

December 3, 2021

Dear Early Learners Families,

We all enjoyed our time with family last week, and loved seeing all our students return to school on Monday with big smiles on their faces!

You should have already seen the communication from the district regarding eLearning days that may result if we experience inclement weather that requires school to be closed. To help prepare for those possible days, we would appreciate it if you could take a moment to provide a little feedback on your technology accessibility at home. Click here to complete the brief survey at your convenience.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Janet

What's Happening in Early Learners?

This week we started our Folktales and Fairytales unit! Classrooms focused on familiar stories such as The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks. We learned that a fairytale can have magic, characters and teaches us a lesson. We read different versions of the stories to discuss similarities and differences. The students loved being able to retell the stories with puppets or other pictures and hearing different character voices.

Students participated in a variety of activities such as making gingerbread puffy paint or using the bears in the block center to retell the story. We cannot wait for our stuffed animal sleepover in library next week! Don't forget to bring your special lovey and wear pajamas! Next week we will start our gingerbread unit as we gear up for our Gingerbread Workshop! More information to come from your child's classroom teacher about the workshop.

Speech with Ms. Nathanson

Hi Early Learners Families!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! This week in speech group we read Winslow The Wondering Walrus. Throughout the story, Winslow wonders his way through the alphabet. Each letter in the alphabet had a sentence that contained words starting with that letter (i.e. “I wonder if bluebirds blow big bubbles”). As we read through the different letters, the students thought about and shared other words that also started with that letter. They did a great job and had a lot of fun thinking of new words!

Have a great weekend!
