Norwood Happenings

Student Council is partnering with Scholastic for our pajama drive. We are collecting new pajamas for children in need. For every pajama set donated, Scholastic will donate a book to the child as well. We will be taking donations until Friday, December 18th.

Friday, December 18th, students may wear school appropriate pajamas in support of the pajama drive. Friday is also an early release day. Students are dismissed at 11:45.

Holiday Program

Tuesday, December 15th at 6:00 pm please join us for our School Play. The 4th and 5th grade choirs will sing and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade will be participating in the play.

5th Grade Happenings

Winter Parties

Winter parties will begin at 10:45 on December 18th. Please feel free to join us for our celebrations! Don't forget to send $2.00 with your child to help pay for food and activities at their winter party.

Camp Carter

Please return the Camp Carter informational letter signed. This will allow us to begin planning this spectacular event!

Math Madness

This week we will be wrapping up our lessons on expressions and equations. Homework is due on Tuesday, December 15th (note that this is a change from last weeks newsletter). The test over expressions and equations will be on Wednesday, December 16th. All missing assignments need to be turned in by Thursday, December 17th. Have a wonderful holiday with your families!

In the Science Lab

This week in science we will be finishing up our unit on space by learning about the planets.

The Reading Corner

In ELA, there will be NO new spelling words and NO spelling test, due to the shortened week. Students will be learning about fact and opinion and reviewing character through our study of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". We will also broaden our knowledge of pronouns by learning the difference between subject and object pronouns, and when to use each.

Reminder: all school library books must be turned in before the break; if a student is in the middle of a book, he or she may keep it on hold until we return in January.

Blast from the Past

This week in Social Studies the students will continue reading about The Annexation of Texas and the Industrial Revolution.
