OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM -- ENGLISH
STUDENT GOOGLE ACCOUNTS AND GMAIL ADDRESSES
Dear Parents and Guardians,
In order to save paper and to incorporate the latest technologies in the classroom, I am requesting that students create a Google account and "gmail" email account. The purpose of creating these accounts is so that students can access Google Drive, which is a suite of programs that includes word processing and presentation software. The benefit of using Google Drive is that students can access their documents and projects from any computer with internet access, including at home. They can also collaborate on projects with other students from anywhere they have internet access. The purpose of creating an email address is so I can email them an invitation to our shared class folders that will house various class information and documents in the cloud. Students can also use their emails to share their essays and other assignments with me so I can grade them and make comments on them via a paperless system. From my informal poll, I believe that most students already have Google and/or gmail accounts. They can use their existing accounts, or create a new account for school purposes. If you do not want your student to create Google and/or gmail accounts, or if you do not want them to provide me with their current gmail address, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 760.910.3272 or tsmith@psusd.us.
