January 10th-14th

At Bear Creek, we are proud to be a member of the No Excuses University Network. As a No Excuses School we believe that every student has a right to be educated in a way that prepares them for college. We discuss goals, have college conversations, and end our announcements each day with the phrase "After high school comes college"!

GCISD COVID-19 Resources

Please visit for lots of resources from the District pertaining to COVID-19. There you can find updated frequently asked questions, current GCISD COVID-19 protocols, information on the GCISD COVID-19 Testing Center, information on remote conferencing, statistics regarding COVID-19 cases in GCISD and more.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Campuses across GCISD are coming together this January to support local families through donations to GRACE. The entire community will participate in this endeavor by donating requested items from January 5-14 and during drive-thru events at GHS and CHHS on Monday, January 17 in honor of the MLK Day of Service.

Bear Creek Elementary will be collecting SALT AND PEPPER. We will have a box at the front if you’d like to drop off your donation at school.

3rd-5th Grade Perot STEM Club

We are excited to partner with the Perot Museum to provide a STEM club opportunity for a small group of 3rd-5th graders this semester! You can read more about the club HERE, and if you’d like to apply, you and your child can fill out the google form application HERE. Because space is very limited, we will be doing a Lotto process for those who fill out the application by Friday, Jan. 21st. If you have any questions/concerns, you can email our Family Engagement Specialist, Sarah Burey at

Family Engagement Specialist's Niche

Happy New Year! I hope you and your family enjoyed the holiday vacation. We are hopeful to soon allow opportunities for parent volunteers to help complete tasks for teachers/staff at the school. If you may be interested in that, please make sure you complete the Family Engagement Survey HERE (if you haven’t already). You will also need to make sure you complete the district background check HERE before you are able to volunteer. I will be in touch with you when opportunities arise if you indicate on the form that you are interested in volunteering!

BCE Arabic Family Meet & Greet

We have many families at our school that speak Arabic, so we are hosting our first BCE Arabic Meet & Greet to connect with other families on Jan. 27th from 2:00-2:45 PM in the cafeteria. If you would like to attend, please register HERE.

Community Resources

If you are needing some additional support, GRACE Grapevine, Tarrant County United Way, and Tarrant Area Food Bank are some local resources.

If you ever need any support or help finding resources for your child/family, please do not hesitate to reach out to me! My office number is 817-251-5620 ext. 2472, my email is, and HERE is my website with some Family Resources linked.

Librarian's Nook

Hope you had a wonderful holiday break!

Every week we recognize students who are demonstrating our BCE credo! Our credo is WORK HARD-SHOW RESPECT-BE KIND-NO EXCUSES. Mr. Calvert and Dr. Stevens visit each classroom to award Golden Paw stickers to students nominated by their teachers! Our school is full of great kids and we love highlighting outstanding character!

Check out this week's Golden Paw recipients!
