The creation of new classrooms happens each spring at Pine Run. If you have specific information about your child that would assist us in developing productive, balanced, and equitable learning communities, please click on and complete our Classroom Creation Parent Input Form and forward it to our Student Support Counselor, Mrs. Fronheiser. Please submit all forms by May 15th so that your contributions are sure to be considered during our work. Our children will learn of their new placements on Move-Up Day scheduled for June 17th. LOVE AND LOGIC: Are we raising a society hooked on praise?

Healthy adults do not depend upon the praise of others, and neither should children. We want kids guided by their own voice of personal responsibility, which resides in their hearts and heads.

While some praise is beneficial, we set our kids up for difficulties when we overdo it. To help avoid this trap we can work to instill a set of ethical principles and a strong understanding of cause and effect, which is far more likely to produce confidence and joy than a life dependent upon the ever-changing opinions of others.

Consider the following ideas to continue promoting independent thinking in children:

1. When your kids succeed on a task, recognize their effort and their good feelings rather than telling them how happy it makes you.

2. Demonstrate that you love and care for them, even when you don’t necessarily love their behavior.

3. Allow children to see you resisting peer pressure…rather than always trying to project a perfect image.

4. Provide praise in a balanced manner…and only when they have done something truly praiseworthy.

5. Let kids overhear you talking about how you make decisions based on your own beliefs...rather than seeing you make decisions based on what “everybody else is doing.”

6. Allow kids to make affordable mistakes and learn from them…rather than constantly telling them what to do.

The more we help children hear and respond to their own personal voice, the more likely they are to resist peer pressure. This helps kids lead lives where their happiness is based on doing the right thing, rather than trying to please everyone.

CB Cares

The partnership between CBCEF and the Central Bucks School District is long-standing. Since its inception, CBCEF has been involved in promoting the 40 Developmental Assets in our local schools through programs and trainings, with the goal of fostering positive behaviors and values in our community’s youth. At the present time, there are many active school programs which represent the mission of CBCEF - serving as a community catalyst by engaging, empowering, and linking people, organizations and businesses in the community.
