*Leader in Me Family Focus*
Habit 2 Begin with the End in Mind
What does it mean for students to begin with the end in mind?
Students plan ahead and set goals.
They are prepared at all times.
They think about how the choices they make will affect
their future.
They think about the positive and negative consequences before they act.
FAMILY ACTIVITY
Have a Plan!
A family mission statement is like a constitution your family lives by. It represents the purpose and values of your family. Mission statements come in many forms. Some are long, some are short. They can take form as a phrase, saying, a picture, a poem, or even a song. Make it personal to your family.
Use the questions below to write a family mission statement. Then post it somewhere that every family member can see it and read it daily.
What does our family want to be known for?
How do we treat each other?
What unique contributions can we make to society?
What big goals do we want to achieve?
What qualities do we have as a family or want to work towards having?
What are 5 things we like to do?
List 3 words that describe our family?

This conference will provide an opportunity for you and your child to work together with the classroom teacher to set long-range and short-term goals for the school year.
Literacy growth and attendance will be the primary focus of this goal-setting meeting. Together, you will discuss and select a literacy goal. The meetings will be 15 minutes long and meetings are scheduled back to back. Please contact your student's teacher if you have not schedule a time. A home visit can be arranged if you are not able to attend.
