Consultations
Thanks for attending consultations over the last two weeks. We look forward to seeing our last group of parents tomorrow night. We trust these sessions have enabled you to connect with your child’s learning, understand progress in a variety of areas and have made you aware of the targets your child is working on.
International Schools’ Assessments (ISA)
The Years 4-6 students have been completing ISA this week. The International Schools’ Assessment (ISA) is an annual assessment programme which has been specially developed to measure skills in Mathematical Literacy, Reading and Writing. The ISA results provide descriptive information about what students know and can do. The results are equated from year to year so they can be used to track changes over time at individual and school level. Over 27,000 students (primary and secondary level) from 103 schools in 34 countries participate in the ISA assessment. The assessment papers are marked externally and the results reported back to the school and parents in early January.
The school uses this information as another tool to gauge achievement and progress along with many other school based assessment methods. This information helps us to look for trends within cohorts and progress that individuals are making on this assessment compared to students of their own year level across ESF and across the world. We will explain the test results more clearly to year 4-6 parents when the results are distributed in January.
Box of Hope
Glenealy participates in the Box of Hope each year, it is a worthwhile and meaningful way for the students to give back in order to make a positive difference to another child's life.
To create a Box of Hope children put toys, games, toiletry items such as toothpaste & a toothbrush, combs, hair-brushes, soap and stationery items (no liquids or food items)into an empty cardboard box (e.g. a shoe box).
The box is then wrapped in colourful paper and the completed Box of Hope sticker the children will bring home from school is stuck to the box. Please do not seal the box - the organisers need to be able to check the contents before they are sent off.
We will inform you when the boxes should be brought in to school and the sticker will be sent home with the children once we receive them.
Thank you for your support of this worthwhile event.

Glenealy Top Tech Tip
Search engines, like Google, usually look for each word you write and will search for content that contains those words in any order. If you are looking for a specific phrase then you can use quotes. Example: Search for "What dog breed should I get" instead of What dog breed should I get.
Another handy tip to find articles recently published is to click on the “Search Tools” tab, then “Any Time” to select a time frame.
See more search tips here in this article.

PTA
Glenealy School Fair – 11 November 2016
The Glenealy School Fair is just over a month away and the PTA Committee are looking forward to a great evening. Mr Benzie is once again developing a wonderful musical program featuring performances by every year group. After half term look out for information about how you can help out with our international food stalls which are always a highlight of the Fair.
Each year we have a small number of vendors offering child and family-focused products for sale. If you are interested in taking a table, please find the Vendor Application Form here or send your enquiry to Erika at pta@glenealy.net.
Don’t forget our 2nd Hand Book and DVD stall – we will be accepting donations the week of the Fair, watch the newsletter for details.
PTA Subscriptions
A quick reminder that you can leave your PTA subscription payments in the PTA tray in the office or post direct to ESF Centre (address on the invoice). If you are not sure whether you have already paid, please contact Erika at pta@glenealy.net.
Useful School Forms
Medical Authorisation Form - required should your child need to take medication whilst at school, on a school trip or camp
