Skyview Safety Update

As you are likely aware our students participate in a number of safety drills throughout the school year. These include fire drills (on a monthly basis), safe area, shelter-in-place and weather emergency drills. We also conduct periodic drills to practice what to do should an intruder enter our campus. We conducted an intruder drill earlier this year and will be conducting an intruder drill again on Friday, February 22nd.

Please know that we will set the stage with our students that this is a drill by giving a statement over the loudspeaker. Emergency preparedness is highly important. Each of our classrooms is equipped with locked doors and has readily accessible emergency response directions. Substitute teachers also receive a folder for use during their time at Skyview that contains this vital information as well. Students will follow recommended procedures at the direction of the instructor.

During our drill on February 22, School Resource Officers Mike Nastsai and Mark Stead, Lower Providence Township Officers will be present in our building. While it is our hope that we never need to enact these procedures, we see great value in regularly practicing emergency responses with our students and staff.

Please feel free to contact the office with any questions.
